Senior Construction Manager - Civils (UK)
We are seeking a Senior Construction Manager with a strong civils background to take hands-on responsibility for delivery oversight across multiple live projects.
As the business scales from 7m turnover this financial year towards 12m+ over the next 18 months, this role is focused on real delivery control rather than supervision alone. You will be expected to work closely with site teams, challenge information using facts and data, and ensure quality, programme, safety, and margin are actively managed across projects.
This role suits someone who is comfortable being close to site, expects tangible evidence rather than narrative reporting, and takes pride in disciplined, well-planned delivery.
We have operational bases in the North East and East Anglia. The role is hybrid in nature, with nationwide project sites and regular site presence required.
The Role
Reporting to the Managing Director and working closely with the Commercial and Finance teams, the Senior Construction Manager will:
Oversee delivery across multiple live civils projects simultaneously
Require, review, and challenge tangible site data, including programme updates, progress records, productivity measures, lookaheads, and short-term planning outputs
Develop, review, and challenge construction programmes, including baseline programmes, short-term programmes, and recovery programmes
Assess planning logic, sequencing, and critical path, intervening where programme risk is identified
Lead the development, review, and approval of RAMS, ensuring they are practical, site-specific, and aligned with the programme and methodology
Aid in the development and governanve of ITPs across multiple projects
Intervene early where programme slippage, quality issues, or safety risks emerge
Work directly with Project Managers and Site Managers to drive corrective action
Act as the senior escalation point for delivery, technical, and site issues
Work closely with Commercial to understand how programme and methodology impact margin and risk
Support client and stakeholder engagement using clear, evidence-based reporting
Drive consistency in site reporting, planning discipline, and delivery standards across the business
This is not a desk-based or reporting-only role. Regular site presence and engagement with the detail of delivery is essential.
About You
You will have:
A strong background in civil engineering or heavy civils projects
Proven experience managing or overseeing multiple civils projects concurrently
Hands-on experience developing, managing, and recovering construction programmes
A strong understanding of planning logic, sequencing, and critical path
Extensive experience producing, reviewing, and implementing RAMS
Confidence challenging site teams constructively using facts and data
A practical, no-nonsense approach to safety, quality, and delivery
Commercial awareness and an understanding of how delivery decisions impact margin
You will be comfortable holding teams to account and expect information from site to be accurate, timely, and evidence-based.
Why Join
A senior delivery role with real influence and accountability
A growing civils business with increasing project complexity
Minimal layers and direct access to decision-makers
