What we are looking for

An opportunity is available for a Senior Consultant Naval Architect to join the Genesis UK Project and Discipline Engineering Delivery Team to provide marine technical leadership.

Are you a senior and broadly experienced Naval Architect looking to lead the Genesis UK marine discipline in study delivery for major energy transition and conventional energy development projects? With marine; design, transportation, installation and operation study inputs, typically at conceptual / pre-FEED project stages, you will:

  • Lead and manage marine discipline input for our energy transition and conventional energy development projects globally;
  • Support comparative techno-economic assessment and uncertainty, risk, and opportunity management of marine development options / concepts;
  • Participate in engineering assurance activities incl. HAZID and project HSSE reviews;
  • Interface with the Genesis global organisation through collaborative interactions with other delivery and specialist discipline and cost / schedule estimating teams;
  • Work with our extensive range of clients, both in the UK and globally.
Genesis globally is managed within core services lines (Early Advisory Solutions, Development Solutions and Asset Lifecycle Solutions) and key markets (Sustainable Energies, Upstream, Downstream, Infrastructure and Life Science). The Genesis UK Operating Centre (with offices in Aberdeen and London) is organised into core delivery teams providing advisory services globally across these services and markets. You will join the UK Project and Discipline Engineering delivery team, currently comprising circa 50+; engineers, project engineers and study managers, managed in six core discipline study teams comprising; Project Engineering and Operations / Piping, Mechanical and Construction / Electrical / Control, Instrumentation & Telecommunications / Structural, Civil and Marine / Decommissioning.

We are looking for someone who:

Key responsibilities of the role requires broad competence and project lifecycle knowledge in marine and floating offshore systems / structures, with detailed knowledge of:
  • Design characteristics of floating production and storage systems, their operational limits and their applicable areas of operation;
  • The methods and techniques associated with establishing the motion response of floating systems / structures and applied knowledge of analysis techniques available;
  • How metocean conditions impact operational limits for transportation, installation and operation of marine and floating offshore systems / structures;
  • Structural failure modes and the impact these may have on the ability of marine and offshore systems / structures to operate safely;
  • Riser systems available for production / storage units and their interface with marine systems / structures, including turret / mooring systems design and operation.
  • Transportation and installation methodologies / techniques for mooring systems, production / storage / offloading units, topsides modules and riser systems (and associated metocean criteria / impacts);
  • The application of analysis techniques, including finite element structural analysis when applied to floating structures, and the principles of model testing and scale effects;
  • Rules, regulations and industry best practice applicable to design, transport, installation and operation of floating structures and associated marine systems;
  • Principles of asset integrity and life extension assessment / strategy development;
  • Key stages in decommissioning floating structures / systems and associated infrastructure.
Requirements

We\'d love to hear from you if you can demonstrate:
  • Bachelor\'s or Master\'s degree in Naval Architecture or a related field;
  • Chartered Engineer (or equivalent);
  • Strong technical and applied knowledge of marine engineering principles and practices;
  • The motivation and behaviours to manage, mentor and direct a junior engineer;
  • An enjoyment of working in a mixture of tightly woven teams and working with relative independence;
  • Self-motivation and ability to work to deadlines;
  • A desire to develop new skills and experience;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as needed;
  • Experience of new energies / energy transition project development is an advantage.
