We are seeking a suitably experienced Consultant / Senior Consultant to join our Funders Advisory team, which is part of a successful and growing Advisory business unit. The Funders Advisory Team provides advice on all aspects of the development process to support the lending institutions in assessing the suitability of a project for the purposes of making key decisions around lending and/or investment.

The successful candidate will be expected to deliver Development Monitoring services to a range of High Street Banks, Development Funders & Investors, across a wide range of projects spanning multiple sectors.

We are looking for a candidate who will help us grow the Funders Advisory Team and work closely with the wider business.

More broadly you will play a significant part in expanding our Advisory initiatives to develop our service offering, markets, and brand.

Responsibilities and Behaviours

Responsible for looking at pre-loan stage appraisals and ongoing monitoring for development projects that Lender clients are undertaking. Review and undertake a full due diligence report on the viability of a development project (Initial report) and Budgetary control, quality, progress, insurances, contracts, and adherence to statutory procedures (Interim Reports) looking at the following elements relating to each development facility and making recommendations for action where necessary:

  • Suitability of Build Costs
  • Suitability of Build Timeline
  • Suitability of Build Specification
  • Suitability of Contractor & Associated Professional Team
  • Planning Approvals
  • Planning Conditions
  • Building Control Regulations & Requirements
  • S106 & CIL Requirements and Payments
  • Collateral Warranty Requirements
  • Party Wall Awards Requirements
  • Rights of Light
  • Ground Conditions Survey Requirements & Other Relevant Development Surveys
  • Build Contracts
  • Interim Valuations & Advance Payments
  • Defects Insurance Requirements (NHBC etc.)
  • Insurances (PI Cover, Contractor\'s Public Liability, Employer\'s Liability and All-Risks etc.)
  • Health and Safety Requirements and Review thereof
Specific skill and Competencies
  • Experience in delivering Development Monitoring / Funder Due Diligence Commissions.
  • Will be active in the construction market, and keen to support with business generation, developing opportunities and generating revenue within our team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to build & maintain strong relationships with clients and wider team.
  • Attention to detail and able to think ahead
  • Confidence to constructively challenge the client\'s, developer\'s, contractor\'s and professional consultant\'s views or expectations when necessary.
  • Able to multi-task, prioritise and balance numerous activities and demands, in short time periods / deadlines.
  • An understanding of the wider aspects of development (cost, programme, procurement, planning, building control, statutory bodies, appointments and building contract types and risk).
  • Strong IT & Presentation Skills.
  • Excellent technical report writing Skills writing and communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel/ Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Well organised, diligent, proactive, assertive, well-disciplined, and commercially astute.
  • Confidence to constructively challenge the client\'s, developer\'s, contractor\'s and professional consultant\'s views or expectations when necessary.
Qualifications
  • University Degree in either Quantity Surveying, Building Surveying or a similar construction related degree
  • RICS or MCIOB qualified or close to siting final assessment
