The role



As a senior content designer in the digital experience team, you'll put users at the heart of our website and digital products. You'll collaborate with colleagues across the University, to deliver written content that meets both user and business needs.

At Sheffield Hallam, content designers work to make things simpler and easier to use. Whether it's improving a single piece of content or shaping a whole area of our website, content designers help users get things done while supporting the university's goals. This could involve creating or updating content for digital platforms, print, or both.

You'll be joining a friendly, motivated and creative team working to improve the user experience. You will collaborate with UX design and product professionals, digital operations, delivery developers and other stakeholders from student recruitment marketing, to directly deliver a better experience for users.



What you'll be doing



Support and build relationships with stakeholders, including marketing, student recruitment and creative, influencing and collaborating with them to improve the structure and quality of the content

Regularly update and develop new content on the University CMS, Sitecore

Create, improve and manage accessible and plain English content that meets user needs

Actively use data analytics, user research and insight to identify user needs

Support development of user journeys and user stories to inform content strategy and design decisions.

Be a content design advocate and promote consistency, good practice and standards.

Have good working knowledge around accessibility best practice and awareness of WCAG guidelines

Work with the digital experience manager to contribute to content design planning and lead on some projects within it

Share information with key stakeholders the value content design can bring, and embed content design practices into ways of working.

The team



This role is in Digital Experience and Creative, a collaborative team of web producers, UX specialists, content designers, graphic designers and videographers that gives expert advice and support across the Recruitment, Communications and Marketing directorate (RCM) and beyond.

The directorate



Recruitment, Communications and Marketing brings together teams responsible for student admissions and recruitment, student recruitment and corporate marketing, UX, creative, events, external engagement, and internal communications.

Together RCM aims to deliver an excellent customer-centred admissions and student recruitment service, supporting applicants from their initial enquiry to enrolment. We develop and implement the University's corporate and reputational brand strategy, campaigns, website, CRM system, content and social media strategies, provide professional news and PR, public affairs and corporate events service, and deliver strategic, cross-University employee and student communications.

We engage with schools, colleges, and community partners to widen our participation and outreach, lead our student recruitment operations such as clearing and open days, as well as support recruitment and drive conversion through high quality targeted marketing activity.
