The role
This role exists to
own content strategy, quality, and delivery
across the agency in an AI-first environment.
As a Senior Content Strategist, you'll determine what content should exist, in what formats, and why, ensuring that content supports SEO, PR, and commercial goals. You'll use AI and automation for first-pass production, applying your editorial judgement to refine output, close quality gaps, and ensure everything published is accurate, on-brand, and effective.
This is a
hands-on but not writer-heavy role
. AI gets us most of the way; your job is to make it good.
You'll operate with a high degree of autonomy, managing content end-to-end across multiple clients without day-to-day oversight.
What you'll be responsible for
Owning content strategy and delivery across client accounts, translating objectives into clear content plans and priorities.
Deciding the most effective format for each piece of content, including written, visual, video, and audio.
Designing and running AI-led content workflows that prioritise speed, consistency, and scalability as far as it maintains quality.
Reviewing, editing, and refining AI-generated content to ensure clarity, accuracy, structure, and brand alignment.
Personally writing or heavily editing high-impact or sensitive content where human judgment adds the most value.
Owning SEO execution for written content, ensuring it aligns with search intent and agreed SEO standards.
Repurposing and distributing content effectively so ideas are fully utilised, not left unused.
Monitoring performance and feeding insights back into future content decisions.
What success looks like in the first 6 months
Confidently owning content strategy and delivery without needing day-to-day direction.
Replacing manual, writer-heavy workflows with clear, AI-led systems.
Delivering consistently high-quality content by closing the final quality gap AI can't reliably reach.
Producing and coordinating content across multiple formats with clear repurposing pipelines.
Working effectively with SEO and PR teams, with content reliably supporting wider strategy.
Requirements
Experience & capability
Proven experience owning content strategy and delivery in an agency or comparable environment.
Strong editorial judgement, with the ability to review, edit, and improve content for clarity, structure, tone, and accuracy.
Comfortable working autonomously, making decisions and prioritising work without constant oversight.
Experience translating SEO, brand, or commercial objectives into effective content.
AI-led content production
Confident using AI tools for research, outlining, drafting, repurposing, and optimisation.
Comfortable editing AI-generated content directly and improving workflows when outputs fall short.
Clear understanding that AI handles the majority of first-pass production, with human judgment applied to final output.
SEO & performance awareness
Strong understanding of SEO principles as they apply to content, including search intent, structure, and on-page optimisation.
Experience implementing SEO best practices for written content in line with an agreed strategy.
Able to interpret content performance using traffic, engagement, and conversion data.
Client context & judgement
Adding value in client discussions by interpreting objectives and feedback, even when input is unclear, incomplete, or inconsistent.
Applying editorial judgement when client preferences conflict with best practice, data, or agreed strategy, escalating where appropriate.
Ways of working
Highly organised, able to manage multiple content streams and deadlines.
Comfortable working at pace in an agency environment.
Pragmatic, outcome-focused, and clear in communication with internal stakeholders.
Nice to have
Experience working with multi-format content (video, visual, audio).
Familiarity with AI video, image, or audio tools.
Experience designing repeatable content systems or workflows.
Background producing content for regulated, technical, or complex industries.
