About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Senior Contracts Manager to join our leadership team. Acting as No. 2 to the Construction Director, you will take responsibility for the successful delivery of a major project while also supporting and mentoring project teams across the wider business.

This senior position requires excellent knowledge of JCT (and occasionally NEC) contracts, strong leadership capability, and the confidence to influence and advise at board level. You will ensure every project is delivered in full accordance with contract obligations while maintaining Marcon's reputation for integrity, quality, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the delivery of a major construction project, ensuring all contractual, operational, and commercial objectives are achieved. Oversee contract management activity across multiple live and upcoming schemes within the 500k-10m range. Support the Construction Director in maintaining contractual and operational excellence across all projects. Review, negotiate, and approve client, subcontractor, and supplier agreements. Advise project teams on risk management, compliance, and contract interpretation (JCT and NEC). Manage all key contractual correspondence including notices, variations, EOTs, and claims. Develop, manage, and monitor project programmes using MS Project or Asta Powerproject. Mentor and support junior and intermediate colleagues, promoting strong contractual understanding and best practice. Collaborate closely with the Commercial Director to align project delivery and procurement strategies. Conduct post-contract reviews to capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement.

Skills & Experience

Proven experience as a Senior Contracts Manager or Project Lead within a main contractor environment. Strong working knowledge of JCT and familiarity with NEC contracts. Experience delivering construction projects between 500k and 10m, ideally within the healthcare, education, or commercial sectors. Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills. Proficiency in MS Project or Asta Powerproject is essential. Strong understanding of contractual risk, change control, and compliance. Degree, HNC, or HND in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline. Ability to manage complex projects while supporting multiple teams simultaneously. Proficient in Microsoft Office and contract management systems.
