What We Are Looking For...
The Senior Copywriter is responsible for the delivery of engaging and persuasive copy for River Island, championing the brand tone of voice and ensuring all language informs, entertains and inspires River Island customers. Working cross-functionally, it requires both a marketing and publishing mindset with a keen attention to detail. An expert in their field, the Senior Copywriter should be informed and understand the latest language and copy trends, with the ability to develop into existing brand TOV.
Key Accountabilities:
Deliver witty, original and eye-catching copy that defines campaigns, enhances creative and builds brand love. Execute through role model and competitor research, big picture thinking, and a deep understanding of the RI brand
Write, edit and proof engaging multichannel copy for brand and promotional campaigns, BAU and internal comms. Ensure campaign message, product USPs and customer mindset are at the forefront of communications
Drive the brand tone of voice across all channels, ensure tone is relevant for the right audiences and consistent across all channels
Develop supporting campaign copy packs for cross channel use
Collaborate cross functionally with a diverse mix of teams, and work dynamically to adapt thinking across different channels
Deliver best practice in grammar, messaging and writing style
Respond to each new brief with creative freshness and compelling ideas, aiming to elevate River Island's presence in copy executions.
Support Junior Copywriter in delivery of briefs, blogs and social copy
Oversee blog content ideation & copy, working closely with SEO team to build keyword glossaries & search ideas. Deliver trend & brand blogs in line with campaign activations. Exercise a strong understanding of SEO best practice in all activity
Work with internal comms teams to ensure consistent TOV internally
About you:
Hold a customer-centric yet creative mindset. The ability to breakdown concepts and deliver storytelling both internally and for the brand's customers. This includes a deep questioning of the brief, skilful editing and simplification of message
Minimum 4 years' experience at a magazine, media company, or editorial website, as well as experience within a content agency, or in an editorial role at a brand
Must have a portfolio of compelling work that showcases both ideation and writing experience
Strong editing and writing skills, with a passion of uncovering and developing unique story angles
Minimum 1 year of management experience
