Job Purpose




The role would manage legal support for the debt recovery function in NextGear Capital, including corporate insolvencies, personal bankruptcies, settlements, and litigation. The role would work with external counsel as needed. The role would advise on other legal matters for NextGear on an ad hoc basis.

Principal Accountabilities



1 direct report (Legal Liaison Officer) Responsible for instruction and budget management of external legal counsel (where matters cannot be dealt with internally Global/regional function: UK and Republic of Ireland Drafting and issuing notices of contract termination to trigger legal right for vehicle uplifts Drafting statutory demands, bankruptcy petitions and other insolvency-related documents Drafting and negotiating settlements and indulgences with customers and guarantors Instructing external counsel on high value litigation Registering security interests on property with HMLR Negotiating commercial agreements with partners and suppliers Advising the NextGear SLT on legal risk Managing external law firm relationships and spend

Knowledge, Experience and Skills Required



Degree in law or non-law degree with graduate diploma in law (GDL) (or other equivalent) Qualified solicitor or barrister in England and Wales with 7 years+ post qualification experience (PQE)
Essential skills and experience:

Experience of advising on debt recovery Experience of advising on corporate insolvency Experience of advising on personal bankruptcy Experience of advising on litigation Experience of negotiating settlement agreements Experience of drafting and negotiating commercial agreements
Desirable skills and experience:

Experience of working in-house Experience of the automotive industry Knowledge of the Irish legal system
