About the Role

Senior Support Worker / Crisis Support Worker

to join our dedicated residential care team for our

solo provision in the Cambridgeshire countryside

.

This is an exciting opportunity to

in the life of a young person with complex emotional and behavioural needs. You will provide

person-centred care, trauma-informed support, and crisis intervention

, ensuring the young person feels safe, valued, and empowered to reach their potential.

You'll lead by example -- advocating for the young person, mentoring other staff, and maintaining the highest standards of care and safeguarding.

Key Responsibilities



Leadership & Mentorship



Provide guidance, supervision, and support to a small team of Support Workers to ensure consistent, high-quality care. Act as a role model, promoting best practice and a child-centred approach in all areas of care.

Crisis & Therapeutic Support



Deliver high-quality, trauma-informed crisis interventions to support young people in emotional or psychological distress. Use evidence-based therapeutic strategies (e.g. grounding, emotional regulation, and de-escalation techniques) to promote recovery and stability.

Daily Living & Routines



Encourage and participate in daily routines, activities, and community engagement to promote structure, wellbeing, and independence. Support the young person in attending appointments, education, and leisure activities.

Safeguarding & Advocacy



Ensure the protection, safety, and welfare of young people at all times, taking swift action where necessary. Actively advocate for the young person's rights, wishes, and voice to be heard and respected.

Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) & PACE Model



Embed

Playfulness, Love, Acceptance, Curiosity, and Empathy (PACE)

principles in all interactions. Promote

Positive Behaviour Support

techniques that encourage positive outcomes and emotional growth.

Collaborative Practice



Work closely with external professionals (e.g. CAMHS, social workers, education providers, emergency services) to ensure consistent and coordinated care. Assist the Residential Home Manager with quality assurance, record-keeping, and compliance during inspections and Regulation 44 visits.

Professional Development



Engage in reflective supervision, ongoing training, and professional development to maintain high standards and emotional resilience. Take part in on-call duties as required.

About You



You'll be a caring, resilient, and motivated individual with a genuine passion for improving the lives of young people in residential care.

Essential:



QCF Level 3/4 in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) - with a willingness to work towards Level 5 if not already obtained. Minimum of

2 years' experience

in a Children's Residential or similar setting. Strong leadership and mentoring skills. Proven ability to support young people displaying challenging behaviours and complex emotional needs. Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle. Flexibility to work

rota patterns

including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins and occasional on call.

Desirable:



Experience in crisis support, secure settings, mental health, youth work, social care, or psychology. Background in working with young people with trauma, attachment difficulties, or complex mental health needs.
