Senior Cyber Security Engineer (Microsoft Security Specialist)

Cambridge (Hybrid - 3 days in office)

\xc2\xa350-70K (DOE)

The Senior Cyber Security Engineer is a key member of the Bridge Partners Security Team, responsible for providing expert-level support and guidance to other staff members. With a strong focus on subject matter expertise, this role ensures the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Bridge Partners and our clients.

You would be responsible for creating and maintaining cybersecurity controls, to identify, protect, detect, respond, and recover to maintain the security posture of Bridge Partners and our clients. A mix of Office 365, email security, endpoint security, other various systems will comprise the role.

The role

Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as the go-to resource for all cyber security-related matters within the organisation. Stay up to date with the latest trends, technologies, and threats in the field of cyber security. Continuously enhance knowledge and skills through self-study and certifications.

Technical Support: Provide expert-level technical support and guidance to other members of the Security Team as well as the wider business. Assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of secure systems, networks, and applications. Act as a mentor and provide training to junior team members.

Security Operations: Collaborate with the security team to monitor and investigate security incidents and vulnerabilities. Conduct root cause analysis and provide recommendations for remediation and prevention. Contribute to the development and maintenance of incident response plans and playbooks.

Policies and Procedures: Develop and maintain information security policies, standards, and procedures. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards. Assist in the creation and delivery of security awareness training programs for staff members.

Incident Response: Act as a key resource during cyber security incidents, providing expertise in incident handling, containment, eradication, and recovery. Coordinate with internal teams and external SOC, such as law enforcement or third-party incident response providers, as necessary.

Risk Management: Collaborate with stakeholders to identify, assess, and prioritise cyber security risks. Assist in the development and implementation of risk mitigation strategies and controls. Conduct risk assessments and provide recommendations for improvement.

What we need from you
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CIPP, CCSP) are highly desirable.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in the field of cyber security, with a focus on supporting and mentoring other team members.
  • Experience in Microsoft security services, products and architecture is a must.
  • In-depth knowledge of network security, operating systems, databases, web applications, and cloud computing.
  • Strong understanding of security technologies, such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, SIEM, antivirus, and data loss prevention.
  • Experience with security assessment tools and techniques, including vulnerability scanning and penetration testing.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards (e.g., GDPR, ISO 27001, NIST).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound decisions in high-pressure situations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex security concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proactive and self-motivated, with a passion for staying updated on the latest security threats, technologies, and best practices.
