The role...



We're looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our team and lead the way in delivering excellence across all our data practices. You'll play a key role in modernising our data infrastructure, improving our pipelines, and setting the standard for technical best practices. This is an ideal role for someone who is driven by impact, loves solving problems, and is passionate about mentoring others.

You'll work on Pirical On Demand, our people analytics platform, alongside a hungry, ambitious team of junior data engineers. We're looking for someone who can lead by example, supporting the team with code reviews, pair programming, and technical coaching, while driving innovation in how we build and maintain data pipelines.

Our team is hybrid, with 2-3 days a week in our Shoreditch office. We value learning and growth, and you'll be at the heart of a collaborative, mission-driven environment that supports both.

Role Responsibilities...



Technical Leadership

Act as a technical role model - setting best practices for coding, architecture design, and data engineering. Provide coaching for the team - 1:1s, pair programming calls, showcases Conduct code reviews to ensure high quality engineering practices Support the team in deliveries and maintenance
Data pipeline development and optimisation

Operate, maintain and improve pipelines to bring more automation and quality checks. Investigate and resolve issues in our data pipelines efficiently and quickly. Work closely with our clients to troubleshoot their data problems. Design scalable and resilient data architectures and solution designs to improve our POD data pipelines. Define best practices for data modeling, storage, and retrieval and improve existing processes. Work to increase efficiency and accuracy of refreshes and onboardings

Required experience...



You have a minimum of 5 years of experience working with at least two of Python, Pandas, SQL, and Excel/Google Sheets You have a track record of coaching junior engineers and have aspirations to lead a team. You have an engineering mindset, enjoy proactively initiating problem solving discussions, and proactively solving problems and implementing future-proof solution You own and drive your work and can balance conflicting priorities You have an engineering mindset, enjoy proactively initiating problem solving discussions, and proactively solving problems and implementing future-proof solutions You have a good eye for detail and feel satisfied when things are tidy & organised You understand the value data can bring if effectively handled and transformed You are a team player and want to achieve results of high standards
