Job Summary

Partner onsite with the client's Data team to design, build, and operate a centralised commercial data platform. This hands-on role blends platform development with data engineering across ingestion, governance, modelling, and activation delivering accuracy, efficiency, and compliance. It's highly collaborative and execution-focused, so clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders is essential.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Roadmap:

Design and execute the data engineering strategy to meet commercial data needs.

Integration:

Ingest and integrate data from multiple sources (e.g., commerce/merch, transactions, web, app) into a centralised platform.

Governance & Quality:

Establish robust governance covering data cataloguing, lineage, role-based access, retention, and privacy compliance; maintain accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.

Pipelines & Activation:

Build scalable, secure, observable pipelines (batch/stream) to share and activate data across analytics, CRM/marketing, and finance.

Data Modelling:

Implement and optimise warehouse/lake/lakehouse models so complex domains are easy to use and trustworthy.

Architecture & Tooling:

Select tools and patterns aligned to requirements and best practice, with an eye on performance, cost, and maintainability.

Priority Projects:

Lead assigned initiatives and the evolution/maintenance of the customer data platform (CDP).

SDLC & Reliability:

Own the full lifecycle docs, testing/UAT, code reviews, releases, monitoring, incident resolution, and continuous improvement.

Collaboration:

Work closely with architecture/infrastructure and business stakeholders to translate requirements into sound technical solutions.
Development Lifecycle & Ways of Working

Document new and existing pipelines and operational runbooks. Monitor efficiency/cost and propose improvements. Participate in code reviews, incident response, and knowledge-sharing/training. Build automated, reusable, scalable, and secure data processes for internal and client-facing use.
Skills & Qualifications

Proven expertise in data engineering and platform strategy with end-to-end delivery in production. Strong proficiency in

Python

and

SQL

;

Terraform

(IaC);

dbt

(transformations);

Airflow

(orchestration);

Looker

(or equivalent BI). Cloud experience on

GCP

(preferred) or

AWS/Azure

. Deep knowledge of modern data architectures:

Data Warehouses, Data Lakes, Lakehouses

Solid grounding in ingestion patterns, data contracts, testing, observability (freshness, completeness, accuracy SLAs), and access controls. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail; strong communicator with cross-functional stakeholders.
Preferred Background

Real-world examples of strategy formation and execution. Customer commercial data experience is beneficial. Recent hands-on experience maintaining production pipelines, troubleshooting issues, and implementing fixes. Cloud infrastructure know-how to build, manage, and optimise data solutions.

Pay: 55,000.00-70,000.00 per year
