Core Responsibilities:



Design & Development:

Build scalable, serverless data solutions on Azure and AWS using tools like Synapse, ADF, AWS Glue, Lambda, and Athena.

Pipelines & Processing:

Create secure, efficient batch and real-time data pipelines with services such as Azure Data Factory and AWS Glue.

Data Architecture:

Apply advanced modelling (e.g., Kimball) and design cloud-native architectures optimised for serverless environments.

Quality & Governance:

Implement robust data governance, security, and compliance with UK regulations (GDPR, FOI, NCSC).

Platform Engineering:

Develop reusable cloud data platform components using tools like S3, Data Lake Gen2, and Logic Apps.

Monitoring & Ops:

Ensure stability of production data flows with automated monitoring (Azure Monitor, CloudWatch).

GDS Compliance:


Ensure all data engineering outputs adhere to GDS Service Standard and Technology Code of Practice. Support service assessments, audits, and documentation as required by UK government bodies.

Soft Skills:



Strong stakeholder engagement, clear communication, team collaboration, and ability to work independently Proactive, analytical, and committed to continuous learning and innovation Supportive team player with mentoring and coaching experience

Desirable:



Experience in both public and private sectors Deep understanding of data protection and security standards Multi-cloud expertise and open-source contributions Professional certifications (e.g., Azure Data Engineer, AWS Data Analytics) #####

Qualifications



Cloud & Serverless:

Azure (Synapse, Functions, ADF), AWS (Glue, Lambda, Athena, Kinesis, S3)

Databases:

Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, AWS Redshift, Aurora, DynamoDB

Programming:

Python, SQL (R desirable)

DevOps & IaC:

Terraform, ARM/Bicep, CloudFormation, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions

DataOps:

CI/CD, automation, monitoring, and agile delivery

Modelling:

Kimball, Data Vault, Star Schema, Graph

Streaming:

Kinesis, Event Hubs #####

Must be eligible for Security Clearance

Experience in delivering customer value through Agile delivery methodology Contribute towards wider Data Practice through supporting pre-sales, knowledge sharing and generating offerings and accelerators 4+ years of data engineering experience
