Job Summary
Role Summary
We are looking for a Senior Data Product Manager to own and develop our data strategy across all of Reconomy, including supporting development of our data products, leading systems integration initiatives, and establishing data as a strategic asset within our organization. This standalone role reports into the Group Engineering Director and will be pivotal in transforming raw data into value-add actionable business intelligence through our modern Azure-based data platform. The successful candidate will own and drive Reconomy's data strategy across all divisions, and support associated AI / ML enablement functions, working closely with stakeholders across the business to deliver high-value data solutions that support our environmental service operations.
Key Responsibilities
Data Product Ownership
: Treating data as a product, defining the group's target data strategy and driving the roadmap to achieve that target state for Reconomy's data platform and related products across all divisions
Defining The Data Landscape
: Aligned to the definition of the Reconomy data strategy, define a landscape of master and system of record products and applications to ensure the right workload is being used for the right use case, holding the right class and types of data
Data Integration Leadership
: Spearhead the integration of various business systems (ERP, CRM, HR, etc.) across the Reconomy Group, moving away from ad-hoc connections to a cohesive platform conforming to agreed and published API and data integration standards
Data Transformation
: Oversee the transformation of raw data across our business lines (product returns, waste management, environmental services, product characteristics, sustainability, etc.) into structured and curated data layers to enable effective business intelligence
Business Analysis
: Conduct thorough data business analysis to identify use cases and requirements across Reconomy's divisions
System Landscape Assessment
: Evaluate current Reconomy systems and identify the single source of truth for key data domains
Dashboard & Reporting
: Lead the development of customer-facing dashboards and reports that deliver actionable insights for waste management compliance
Governance Implementation
: Establish and maintain robust data governance practices across the platform, ensuring compliance with data security and legislative requirements
Product Strategy:
A key member of the group-wide Product Chapter you will contribute to the central product strategy for Reconomy, aligning all product development with the Data Strategy.
AI Strategy
: Support the development of AI and ML solutions in the divisional businesses by ensuring that the Data Strategy underpins and enables the group AI Strategy
AI Enablement
: Lead and support initiatives for business AI enablement via data products, including ML models, inbox management AI, and chatbot implementations to enhance Reconomy's service offerings working closely with our in-business and tech stakeholders
Qualifications
Proven experience in data product management preferably with a data engineering background
Experience of defining a data strategy in other businesses, delivering demonstrable successful outcomes
Strong working knowledge of Azure and Databricks platforms; equivalent experience with similar platforms on AWS would be considered
Proven practical experience of implementing modern Data as a Product (DaaP) and Data Mesh concepts in data product management activities
Demonstrated ability to translate complex data concepts into business value within operational environments
Experience in data integration and system architecture, particularly in compliance-focused industries
Understanding of data governance principles and practices within regulated environments
Knowledge of AI/ML implementation in business contexts, preferably in waste management or environmental services
Experience working with compliance data and reporting systems
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
Ability to work independently while collaborating across Reconomy's organizational boundaries
