Data & AI

Why this role matters

At Compare the Market, we're building a world-class Data & AI capability to help people make smarter, faster financial decisions. As a Senior Data Scientist, you'll play a leading role in developing applied AI solutions that have real impact--from intelligent personalisation to optimised customer journeys.

You won't just be building models--you'll shape how we deploy and govern them, working across engineering, product, and analytics to ensure our systems are reliable, scalable, and fair. This is a hands-on, high-influence role at the forefront of our AI strategy.

What you'll be doing

AI Solution Delivery

Lead the end-to-end development of machine learning solutions--from exploration to deployment and monitoring. Build and iterate on predictive models using Python and SQL, ensuring they are robust, ethical, and customer-focused. Translate complex business problems into structured AI solutions aligned to strategic goals.

Applied Science & Experimentation

Design and interpret experiments and A/B tests with scientific rigor. Drive insight through statistical analysis and feature engineering, continuously improving model performance and business impact.

Platform & Governance

Contribute to our ML platform by defining standards for deployment, observability, and responsible AI practices. Champion best practices in reproducibility, testing, documentation, and model evaluation.

Team & Culture

Mentor and support other data scientists, helping to build a high-performing, collaborative team. Promote a culture of curiosity, learning, and technical excellence; this may include line management of junior team members.

What we're looking for

Must Have

Proven experience delivering data science or ML solutions with measurable business impact. Strong Python and SQL skills; hands-on experience with modelling techniques, feature engineering, and statistical analysis. Good understanding of the ML lifecycle, with experience collaborating on deployment and monitoring with engineering or MLOps teams. Excellent communication and storytelling skills--able to turn data into compelling insights and actions. A track record of mentoring peers and upholding high technical standards. A background in a quantitative discipline (e.g. Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering) or equivalent hands-on experience applying machine learning in real-world environments

Nice to Have

Experience working in regulated domains such as insurance or financial services. Exposure to MLOps tools (e.g. MLflow, model registries, A/B testing platforms). Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for data or ML workflows. Interest in or experience with generative AI (e.g. OpenAI, Gemini, Claude) and prompt engineering. Passion for responsible AI and influencing standards around fairness, ethics, and model governance.

Why Join Us?

This is more than a modelling role--it's a chance to shape how we build AI at scale. You'll join a high-impact team that's supported by strong data foundations, clear product vision, and senior-level investment in AI. We'll give you the autonomy to lead, the tools to innovate, and the support to grow.

Everyone Is Welcome

We're committed to building a diverse and inclusive team where everyone feels they belong. If you're excited about this role but don't meet every single requirement, we still encourage you to apply. We're interested in what you can do, not just where you've been.
