This is an excellent opportunity to join a respected Tier 2 contractor delivering quality education, commercial, healthcare and public sector schemes across the South West. As a Senior Design Manager, you'll take ownership of design coordination from tender through delivery, supporting pre-construction and leading design management on live projects valued up to 30m.
You'll work closely with project teams, consultants and clients, ensuring buildability, risk management, compliance and value engineering are embedded throughout the design process.
Role Overview
You will be responsible for:
Managing and coordinating design across multiple projects or a major scheme.
Leading design meetings and workshops with consultants and clients.
Supporting pre-construction teams with technical input and tender design.
Reviewing drawings, specifications, risk registers and compliance.
Driving design solutions that improve buildability, safety and quality.
Ensuring all design complies with planning, standards and building regulations.
Collaborating with commercial, operations and supply chain teams.
Providing design leadership, mentoring and guidance to junior staff.
About You
Proven Design Manager or Senior Design Manager experience with a main or regional contractor.
Background working on education, commercial, healthcare or public sector projects.
Strong understanding of building regulations, compliance and technical coordination.
Ability to influence consultant teams and challenge designs constructively.
Great communicator, organised, proactive and confident in client settings.
Skilled in managing multiple stakeholders and working collaboratively on solutions.
