About This Role:



Veranex has an exciting opportunity to join the Senior Research & Strategy (R&S) team. You will be leading Client R&S Projects that span from early stage targeted explorative research to more strategic opportunity identification within Healthcare innovation. You will play a key role in planning, supporting and synthesizing a range of qualitative research projects for world leading MedTech organizations. This role reports to the Director of Research and Strategy and collaborates with Research, Design and Development teams globally.



As a Senior Design Researcher, you will be part of a cross-functional team that conducts global research (both virtually and in-person) to identify, capture and understand user needs, pain points and current workflow/journey, to ensure these are captured and communicated in an actionable format to help inform subsequent strategic decisions and product development.



The ideal candidate should be an innovative, creative and a well-organized self-starter who is excited by global travel, conducting primary research (including clinical site visits) and immersing themselves in the healthcare ecosystem.



What You Will Do:



1. Lead project teams through all aspects of R&S projects, under the guidance from project lead and functional manager.



a. Strong understanding of planning and executing exploratory qualitative research and conducting primary and secondary fieldwork.



b. Strong understanding of different research methodologies with an ability to select the right techniques and approaches to fit the project requirements.



c. Leads client communication on all R&S related activities, advising on best practice to help mitigate risks, meet desired goals and manage timeframe expectations.



d. Lead participant moderation and observations using methodologies including ethnography, contextual inquiry (i.e., clinical site visits), formative and validation studies.



e. Create research protocol materials including recruitment screeners, discussion guide materials, presentations and notetaking/debriefing templates.



f. Conduct detailed research analysis, synthesis and user need documentation, including personas, customer journey/workflow maps and storytelling methods.



2. Lead research project activities and present research updates/outputs to clients



a. Ability to support and deliver against predefined project goals.



b. Ability to create engaging client presentations, showcasing the design research process, actionable insights and clear recommendations.



c. Ability to work through tight deadlines by planning activities, setting expectations and pacing yourself to deliver within timeline and budget on projects.



3. Lead the development and implementation of internal R&S process improvement, leveraging best practice approaches and ways of working.



a. Stays up to date with best practices and emerging trends in design research and human-centered design methodologies.



b. Applies, follows and implements company and industry policies and procedures to ensure the safe and ethical delivery of design research.



c. Supports a culture of critical review and peer critique.



4. Support and build team culture and discipline expertise.



a. Provides leadership, training, guidance, and support to R&S staff by mentoring junior level researchers in planning, conducting and synthesizing research.



b. Shares knowledge and actively listens for the team's needs.



c. Assists management with team-building activities, as needed.



5. Interest in gaining awareness of business development activities.



a. Interest in understanding the proposal process in business development activities.



b. Advocate in the research community to establish themselves as a leader.



Qualifications:



Required skills:



Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Anthropology, Psychology, or related field. 4+ years of experience in exploratory research. Experience in leading design research, qualitative research and human centered design methodologies i.e., JTBD, biodesign, etc. Working knowledge in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and white boarding apps like Miro Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent attention to detail Multi-tasking and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.

Preferred:



Experience working in or with the healthcare industry, preferably medical device markets and/or having a clinical background Strong presentation skills (written and oral) Strong problem solving skills Experience working as a senior consultant
