The Opportunity



We are looking for a Senior Designer/Design Engineer to join our team in Aberdeen on a permanent basis. You will be responsible for the preparation of all design calculations, drawings and records relating to a design scaffold

How you will make an impact



In the absence of the UK Design Manager, check and approve drawings for issue to operations and be responsible for giving accurate advice to the Operations team on design solutions, ensuring client queries are professionally and accurately responded to Produce competent design drawings, calculations and design risk assessments to service the requirements of the client as explained in the design brief. Attend site visits/stakeholder meetings when necessary to provide engineering assistance to internal company supervisors and/or clients (potential overnight stays may be necessary). Ensure details of communications, sketches, drawings, approval, design changes, photographs are kept within the job specific file in line with all design department procedures. Make sure that all drawings/sketches and calculations produced are checked by other in-house engineers to ensure they are capable of meeting their intended requirement and all calculations are within allowed limits and to industry codes and regulations. Ensure design outputs meet CDM/health and safety/environmental compliance and assist with promoting best practice in scaffold design across the business. Promote the Company including all other services to customers and 3rd parties where possible Propose and/or develop value engineered alternative solutions (during design or construction phases) to maximise efficiency. Undertake technical review of method statements for complex or unusual methods and review defects or compensation events before advising on solutions

What you will bring



Experience in temporary works design or structural design Experience of working in heavy industry or construction industries (working in the nuclear sector within Design Engineering would be an advantage) Ability to use AutoCAD 2D (min) and knowledge of 3D analysis software (Scia, Staad etc.) Good working knowledge in using Eurocodes for structural design. Working knowledge of BS EN 12811-1 (TG20:13) & BS5975 Demonstrable experience of leading successful design implementation on project Ability to use initiative when offering solutions in design. Degree qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering, or equivalent
