About the Department
Investments Technology Services forms part of the Operations division within Aberdeen.

Its key function is to provide global technology services that, when combined with the intellectual capital within Aberdeen, create value for our clients.

It achieves this by developing and maintaining a technology strategy and architecture that is aligned to the company's operating model and designed in such a way to enable the implementation of business strategy.

Investments Technology Solutions also contains the capabilities necessary to execute against that strategy, to provide robust and appropriate solutions. All of this is achieved within a context of positive assurance ensuring activities are conducted in line with standards, policies and commercial targets.
About the Role
As a Senior Power BI Developer within the Investments team, you will lead the design, development, and optimisation of BI solutions that deliver actionable insights to support strategic investment decisions. You will play a key role in shaping our BI architecture and mentoring others in best practices.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop interactive Power BI reports and dashboards, determining optimal data loading methods (e.g. memory, fabric, direct query), re-using existing data flows and datasets, and building robust data models using DAX and visualisation techniques. Integrate data from multiple sources, ensuring accuracy and consistency, and develop and maintain ETL processes to streamline data flow into Power BI. Maintain an inventory of reusable Power BI components including Fabric Shortcuts, Models, Datasets, and Dataflows. Work closely with investment analysts, portfolio managers, and other stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver tailored BI solutions, while ensuring alignment with the wider BI team's strategy and best practices. Optimise Power BI reports and dashboards for performance and usability, implementing best practices for data visualisation and user experience. Provide training and consultancy to business users on Power BI tools, and support self-service BI by assisting users in developing their own reports and dashboards. Stay current with Power BI features and industry trends, continuously seeking opportunities to enhance BI solutions and processes.

About the Candidate
The ideal candidate will possess the following:Proven experience as a Power BI Developer, ideally within the Investments sector. Experience working with stakeholders to understand requirements. Strong proficiency in Power BI, including data modelling, DAX, and Power Query. Experience with SQL and data integration techniques. Experience with Alteryx is desirable. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and collaboration abilities. Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
