Job Description

Summary:

We are looking for a proactive and technically skilled DevOps Engineer / Senior Backend Developer to take ownership of the backend development and infrastructure of our in-house ERP/WMS/MRP platform. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines deep Laravel expertise with cloud DevOps capabilities, ideal for someone looking to make a lasting impact on a mission-critical system used across manufacturing, logistics and eCommerce.

You'll lead backend development, drive platform architecture, and manage AWS infrastructure, while mentoring a growing team and working closely with our project manager, stakeholders and QA. Your work will directly influence the performance, scalability and evolution of a highly integrated, feature-rich platform.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead development and architecture of a bespoke Laravel ERP/WMS/MRP system

Deliver new features including inventory tracking, MRP automation, barcode fulfilment and eCommerce integrations

Optimise MySQL database performance and implement queue-based workflows (Redis, RabbitMQ)

Manage AWS infrastructure (EC2, RDS, S3, CloudWatch) and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins)

Deploy and maintain environments using Docker and Kubernetes

Collaborate with leadership and operations to align system upgrades with business strategy

Mentor developers and drive agile delivery, code reviews and roadmap planning

Frameworks: Laravel, Livewire, Blade, Vue.js

Languages: PHP 8.2+, Node.js 17+, HTML, Bootstrap 4

Databases: MySQL (schema design, indexing, optimisation)

Cloud: AWS (primary), Google Cloud, Azure

DevOps: Docker, Kubernetes, Git, BitBucket, GitHub Actions, Jenkins

Tools: Redis, RabbitMQ, Nginx/Apache, Laravel default guard

eCommerce Integrations: Amazon, eBay, Shopify, Magento, WooCommerce

Accounting Integrations: QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, ExactOnline, Intacct

Shipping: APC, UPS, DPD, Royal Mail

Platform Features:

Multi-location inventory with batch and expiry tracking

Barcode-driven fulfilment and stock control

MRP forecasting and production planning

Staff attendance and job costing tools

3PL and consignment handling

Requirements:

Expert-level Laravel and PHP skills, with DevOps expertise in CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes and Git workflows

Strong AWS experience (EC2, RDS, S3, CloudWatch)

Advanced MySQL knowledge for schema and performance tuning

Skilled in building and maintaining APIs, microservices and messaging queues

Deep understanding of supply chain systems and barcode-driven processes

Proven experience with secure, multi-tenant SaaS platforms

Excellent communication and cross-functional leadership

10+ years in software development, with 5+ years in ERP/WMS/MRP environments

3+ years in technical leadership roles
