The

Senior DevOps Engineer

role sits within our Systems & Development team and you will report into the Head of Systems and Development. You will work with our other developers and our infrastructure engineer to maintain and improve our Kubernetes, AWS, and on-premise environments for application deployment; you'll ensure we operate all our applications in a cost-efficient, reliable, and maintainable manner. You will manage and maintain our CI/CD process and tools, setting standards for other developers to follow and supporting them in making use of the platforms.




As part of a small but capable team, acting as the lead on our cloud infrastructure and a key developer in the team, you'll be a self-starter with the ability to independently investigate, diagnose, troubleshoot, and progress your work, and support others with complex issues. You'll have an eye for detail and a passion for getting things right, building reliable and robust products that just work and deliver the required business outcomes.

Ideal Profile...



The ability to collaborate with technical and operations teams with a range of technical skill levels An inquiring attitude - you don't like things that you can't explain, figure stuff out if you don't know, and try to get to the bottom of odd glitches Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to map out processes using diagramming tools, to present technical changes to non-technical stakeholders, At least 5 years of professional experience in development and operational roles Strong understanding of good data governance and relevant legislation (UK GDPR etc) Fluent proficiency in Python, with experience in modern Python (we use 3.12 onwards) and language features such as type hinting, async, etc Experience with GitHub/GitLab/Bitbucket/other SCM/devops platforms Experience with CI/CD platforms such as Github Actions, GitLab pipelines, Bitbucket pipelines, Jenkins, etc Experience with Kubernetes workload management and administration Experience with administering Linux systems directly and with config management systems such as Ansible and Puppet. Degree-level qualification in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or similar equivalent professional experience demonstrating your ability to work and think in an analytical manner

Development and maintenance of our continuous integration and deployment toolchains Support and maintenance of our Kubernetes cluster and AWS cloud environments Development of best practice guidance and support documentation for other software engineers Development of software applications for the business, ranging from APIs for wholesale partners to network provisioning tools to customer support tools, and any other components as required Collaboration with stakeholders to understand and verify requirements or desired system behaviour throughout the development process Support and mentoring of junior members of the team, helping to build a stronger team and increase our capacity
