We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior Dietitian to join our multidisciplinary team on a part-time basis (3 days per week). This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a prestigious independent hospital in London, providing high-quality nutritional care for patients undergoing elective surgical procedures, as well as those with medical conditions, and those requiring support in our Critical Care Unit (CCU).
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care
Deliver individualised nutritional assessments and interventions for patients across elective surgical, medical, and ITU settings.
Collaborate with surgical and medical teams to optimise perioperative nutrition and enhance recovery outcomes.
Provide specialised dietetic support for critically ill patients in CCU, including parenteral and enteral feeding plans.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration
Participate in ward rounds, case discussions, and discharge planning meetings.
Work closely with consultants, nurses, and allied health professionals to ensure integrated patient care.
Education and Support
Educate patients and their families on dietary strategies for recovery and long-term health.
Provide training and guidance to junior staff, nursing teams, and other healthcare professionals regarding nutritional care.
Quality Improvement and Audit
Contribute to policy reviews, audits, clinical governance activities, and service development projects to maintain high standards of nutritional care.
Stay updated on evidence-based practices and apply them to patient care.
Essential Requirements
BSc in Dietetics or equivalent qualification (HCPC registration required).
Significant post-registration experience, including working in surgical, medical, and critical care settings.
Strong clinical skills in nutritional assessment, parenteral, and enteral feeding.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
Ability to work independently, manage a varied caseload, and prioritize tasks effectively.
Desirable Skills
Experience in elective surgery nutrition, including Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocols.
Advanced training in critical care dietetics.
Involvement in research or service improvement initiatives.
