On behalf of DWP, we are looking for Senior Digital Portfolio Managers for a 4 month contract (Inside IR35) Hybrid in Blackpool, Leeds or Newcastle (3 days per week on-site, occasional travel between offices).
We're looking for experienced Digital Portfolio Managers to join the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and help drive delivery across a complex portfolio of digital projects. This is a stakeholder-driven role, adding capacity and capability to ensure projects stay on track and deliver against business plans.
You'll work closely with senior leaders and delivery teams to plan, prioritise and unblock issues, applying both Agile and Waterfall methodologies. You'll coach and advise teams, support governance and assurance, and help embed portfolio standards and best practices. You'll also provide capability to delivery teams to enable improved planning, prioritisation and risk management across delivery and support data gathering for the 26/27 Winter Planning cycle.
As a Senior Digital Portfolio Manager your main responsibilities will be to:
Provide leadership across multiple projects, monitoring progress and resolving delivery issues.
Develop and maintain clear roadmaps and project plans, ensuring alignment with business objectives and milestones.
Coach and mentor delivery teams on planning and portfolio management.
Facilitate governance forums, maintain audit trails, and ensure compliance.
Identify risks and dependencies early and take action to keep initiatives on track.
Use tools like ServiceNow, Jira, and Confluence to manage data and reporting.
Support continuous improvement of portfolio processes and frameworks.
