We are looking for a reliable and experienced Senior Carer to support the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care in our domiciliary and supported living services across North Yorkshire. As a key member of the team, you will lead by example, support junior care staff, and ensure that service users receive safe, dignified, and compassionate support in line with their personalised care plans.
You will work closely with the Registered Manager and care team to promote independence, wellbeing, and positive outcomes for individuals with varying needs, including elderly care, dementia, learning disabilities, and mental health conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct care and support to service users in accordance with their individual care plans and company values.
Supervise and mentor care staff, ensuring high standards of professionalism and adherence to care protocols.
Support care plan implementation, monitoring outcomes and reporting changes or concerns to management.
Carry out spot checks, medication audits, and service visits to ensure care delivery meets quality expectations.
Assist with staff induction and ongoing training, promoting skills development and teamwork.
Act as a point of contact for families, professionals, and service users when required, always promoting clear communication and trust.
Respond to emergencies or concerns, escalating safeguarding or health issues to the Registered Manager promptly.
Maintain accurate records using digital systems such as Nourish and contribute to daily documentation, incident reports, and MAR charts.
Essential Requirements:
NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent)
Minimum 1 years' experience in a care setting
Confident in supervising or mentoring care staff
Good understanding of safeguarding, person-centred care, and professional boundaries
Strong communication and time management skills
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
Right to work in the UK
Desirable Qualities:
Experience supporting people with dementia, complex needs, or learning disabilities
Familiarity with digital care planning systems (e.g., Nourish, PASS, CarePlanner)
Medication administration training and competency
Emergency First Aid and Manual Handling certificates
Knowledge of North Yorkshire care frameworks and protocols
