We are a small, collaborative, international team, handling a large volume of high-quality research, review and opinion submissions to drive thought leadership across all medical specialties. About the Role

As an In-House Senior Editor, you will oversee the creation and publication of original content for our online open access journal. You will take ownership for overseeing submissions and quality peer reviews to ensure we publish high-quality content. You will build global relationships with people and institutes in the medical and research community to identify new material, authors, subject experts, and content opportunities.


  • Possible office locations - Successful candidates should have the ability to visit one of these offices: London or Oxford.


Responsibilities

  • Arranging peer review and commissioning content to ensure the successful and timely production of a targeted number of articles per year

  • Scanning medical literature and news to keep up-to-date with developments and to identify content, authors and peer reviewers for our journal

  • Attending conferences and academic meetings, along with laboratory and institutional visits to develop and maintain links with the international medical research community

  • Writing editorials, commissioning reviews and commentaries and publishing correspondence to build the journal\xe2\x80\x99s profile among the communities we serve

  • Subediting material from all sections of our journal to improve clarity of expression and to conform to journal style

  • Suggesting and helping to develop new initiatives for future developments and enhancements to our journal


Requirements

  • Have a medical degree with clinical experience in a relevant discipline or a PhD in a related subject field with postdoctoral experience

  • Demonstrate great knowledge of biological and medical sciences

  • Have an exceptional command of the English language and the ability to write in an engaging and interesting manner

  • Be able to communicate and negotiate constructively with members of the medical profession, the media and colleagues

  • Have proficiency with IT systems including MS Office

  • Enjoy collaborating with teams to deliver successful projects and initiatives on-time

  • Have a natural ability to engage, influence and build relationships with stakeholders, teams and our community

  • Be able to travel to internationally for meetings and conferences

  • Previous editorial experience would be beneficial

  • Able to work from our London Office
