In this role, you'll play a key part in supporting existing advanced energy systems and developing next-generation products - particularly in the areas of integrated power solutions. You'll collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams, contributing to design, development, and implementation of cutting-edge systems.
The Role
You will take the lead in the design, verification, and documentation of instrumentation and control systems. This includes capturing requirements, creating system architectures, developing schematics, and overseeing the integration and validation of electrical solutions. The role demands excellent practical skills, strong fault-finding ability, and the capability to produce work of the highest technical standard.
You'll work closely with engineers and scientists across design, production, and testing, ensuring that electrical solutions meet stringent performance, safety, and compliance standards.
Lead electrical engineering development and project deliverables.
Define system-level architectures and undertake technical trade-offs for optimal solutions.
Mentor and guide junior engineers.
Develop single-line diagrams and detailed electrical designs.
Produce technical specifications for electrical components, panels, and systems.
Generate documentation to support compliance, validation, and manufacturing processes.
Collaborate across teams to ensure correct product integration.
Participate in safety and compliance reviews, including HAZOP, SIL, and LOPA.
Conduct fault analysis, troubleshooting, and hands-on product testing.
Proven experience designing electrical systems compliant with EN 60204.
In-depth knowledge of BS7671:2018.
Functional safety compliance experience (EN 61511).
Proficiency with PLCs, particularly Siemens hardware/software.
Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
Willingness to travel for project and customer support.
Desirable Skills
Experience with CE/UKCA compliance for machinery.
Ability to diagnose and resolve EMC/EMI issues.
Low Voltage Competent Person (or equivalent) certification.
Previous experience working within a quality-driven engineering environment.
