Newton Energi is an established infrastructure development company working in the renewable energy sector. With a comprehensive catalogue of battery energy storage projects Newton Energi is excited to be expanding its portfolio to wider energy projects.
Based in Long Bennington, between Newark and Grantham, Newton Energi is seeking a fully qualified and experienced senior electrical design engineer to join its team.
This is a very varied role but you will be accountable for leading the electrical & technical designs for multiple renewable energy projects, primarily focusing on commercial battery storage.
Responsibilities:
As part of a small design team delivering design from feasibility to completion and handover.
Liaising closely with both internal and external stakeholders including clients and sub-contractors.
Leading technical meetings
Ensuring that the design of systems meets legislative and health and safety requirements.
Fully conversant in the use of Soldiworks, AutoDesk Inventor, Auto-Cad or similar.
Preparing electrical calculations, design, and equipment specifications
Detailed design of LV electrical solutions and specifications for commercial BESS installations.
Design of earthing and protection systems for commercial BESS installations.
Designing site-specific equipment as required.
Technical reviews of suppliers & contractors' proposals and on-site inspections of the installation of commercial BESS installations.
Preparing/reviewing new and modifying existing schematics & SLDs.
Production of technical quotes for submission to clients.
Deliver electrical engineering designs and review the work of others.
Review and acceptance of subcontractor designs.
Attendance of site acceptance tests provide technical advice and guidance.
Close liaison with site installation
Experience:
Essential
Minimum 5 years experience gained within Renewables, BESS ,PV SOFC, or Power Generation
Experience in design of electrical systems (renewables, preferably BESS) for industrial and commercial customers
Knowledge of legislation, standards, safe working practices, and environmental best practice
Knowledge of all HSE, technical and compliance risks associated with electrical systems.
Must hold degree or higher educational qualification and significant experience in a similar role.
You will need to be an excellent communicator who can articulate complicated issues between our clients and sub contractors.
Strong technical knowledge of your field, able to advise other disciplines regarding aspects of designs.
Able to write and deliver technical specifications.
A broad experience in LV distribution systems and electrical installation.
Use of software package for carrying out detailed cable calculations.
Understanding of designer's responsibilities under CDM
Proven record in mentoring and developing junior staff in design.
Understanding of project, budget, and quality requirements.
An understanding of procurement and construction.
Ability to adapt to changing scenarios.
Sound written and presentation skills as well as excellent general communications skills.
Hold a full valid driving licence.

BEng/BSc Electrical Engineering (or other Engineering discipline)
Knowledge of machinery safety, electrical systems, BMS or metering would be an advantage.
