The new PNDC facility in the University's Advanced Net Zero Innovation Centre (ANZIC) is looking to recruit a Senior Technician with expertise in the professional engineering arena who can put those skills to use to deliver testing programmes in a safe and cost-effective manner. Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, you will be involved in the design, planning and implementation of projects, ensuring a safe environment is provided and maintained throughout.
As a senior member of the Engineering Team, you will be responsible for developing & managing engineering solutions and testing regimes for energy systems within a test environment, as well as maintenance schedules for the facilities plant and equipment. Authorised for switching and configuration of electrical networks, as well as configuration and monitoring of the facilities SCADA systems. Taking lead on procurement and tender processes, project proposal estimates, and carrying out surveys and inspections where necessary will be part of managing the delivery of a wide range of diverse projects and programmes of work at the facility.
We are seeking to recruit someone with first class communication skills and able to demonstrate previous relevant experience with a sound knowledge of HV and LV systems, protection and communications systems, planned maintenance, electrical services and current health and safety legislation. The post shall require network authorisation (AP) in line with PNDC safety rules and procedures, working towards Senior Authorised Person status. The role will entail a significant amount of hands-on work such as designing and building test rigs, including integration of communications networks across various systems, to ensure safe interfacing between PNDC and Client equipment.
The post will be based at ANZIC with the potential to support PNDC's long-established facility at Ward park, Cumbernauld, giving the opportunity to work on a wide range of interesting and innovative projects in partnership with the University's expansive community.
You should be an accomplished Engineer with significant relevant experience able to interact with a variety of stakeholders from Academia, Industry, and Public Sector organisations. You will work in a dynamic environment, with changing priorities and collaborators, and so effective teamwork is essential.
As a valued member of the technical team, you will receive the appropriate training and work towards obtaining relevant authorisation quickly, with the opportunity for further role development in the future.
