We are now seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Employee Relations Advisor to join our HR team and play a key role in shaping an inclusive, values-led people culture.

This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned HR professional to step into a pivotal role offering expert, hands-on support to line managers and employees across a diverse organisation.

Working closely with our operational leaders, you will take ownership of a complex ER caseload, providing real-time, practical guidance to drive fair, consistent, and legally sound decision-making. You'll also act as a key mentor to HR Advisors, supporting their ongoing development and ensuring a high standard of advice and service delivery across the HR team.

In addition to your advisory responsibilities, you'll contribute to wider people projects including organisational change, employee engagement, and policy development. As a visible and trusted HR presence, your work will directly influence a positive working environment for all our teams.

Main duties of the job



Provide expert advice on complex employee relations issues including disciplinary, grievance, performance, absence, and conflict resolution. Manage a varied ER caseload, offering clear, practical, and legally compliant support to managers. Coach and build capability in line managers, promoting early and informal resolution of people issues. Attend and support formal HR meetings, including hearings, appeals, and consultations; draft correspondence and outcome letters. Act as day-to-day lead and mentor for HR Advisors, overseeing their caseload and supporting their development. Ensure accurate and confidential record-keeping of all ER casework and contribute to data-driven insights. Support organisational change, including restructures, TUPE processes, and employee consultation. Contribute to HR policy development and review, ensuring alignment with legislation and best practice. Engage with employee forums and staff representatives to support a positive, inclusive workplace culture. Work closely with the Head of HR Business Partnering to deliver HR projects and represent the function when required.

What We Are Looking For



We are looking for a confident and experienced HR professional with a strong background in employee relations. You'll have sound employment law knowledge, a coaching approach, and the ability to handle complex cases with sensitivity. CIPD qualified (or equivalent experience), you'll be solutions-focused, resilient, and passionate about people.

Location:

Hybrid working one day per week in an office or when business needs require. Potential to have to travel more for training in first 12 weeks.

Salary

: 45,000 Per annum

Hours Per Week:

36 hours

Hours of Work

: Monday to Thursday, 9am - 5.00pm and Friday, 9am - 3.30pm

NB: Shifts that are longer than 6 hours, will include a 30 minutes unpaid break.

Person Specification



Knowledge & Skills



Essential



Sound knowledge of current employment legislation and best practice. Pragmatic, commercial thinker able to balance risk with business needs. Skilled at building relationships, trust, and credibility across all levels. High emotional intelligence and resilience when handling sensitive matters.

Experience



Essential



Significant experience working in a front-line HR advisory or employee relations role. Proven track record of managing a broad range of ER cases from start to finish. Experience coaching or mentoring HR colleagues or managers.

Qualifications



Essential



English and Maths qualification either GCSE A to C or Functional Skills Level 2 or GCSE 4 or NVQ level 2.
Member of CIPD or equivalent professional qualification, or extensive relevant experience as HR Generalist.

Desirable



Further education (e.g., A-Levels, BTEC, GNVQ, or equivalent).
