Role Purpose:



The post is for a Senior Employment Officer, working 35 hrs per week. You will be expected to be flexible to work such hours as are necessary to fully discharge the responsibilities of your role, including occasional evening and weekend work.

You must be passionate, committed, creative and able to work within guidelines of getting young people into paid employment. Your key responsibilities will be setting up a new Internship programme between a college and large host employer, to identify and create suitable opportunities for a cohort of 10 young people with learning difficulties. You will be the lead on supporting the 10 students to complete 3 ten week rotations in different roles which will involve following the processes used to get people into paid work. You will be working in partnership with a college tutor who will be looking to you as the specialist in supported employment. The target will be to achieve 50% minimum job outcomes. The role may also involve some line management responsibilities within the Pure Employment Transition Team.

You may also be responsible for overseeing other supported internship sites within Greater Manchester. This would involve line management of an employment officer and job coaches.

Responsibilities:



Project Management



Working alongside the Assistant Internship Contracts Manager to plan and prioritise individual activities towards achieving the Departmental Plan, contractual specifications and agreed business aims

To work in Partnership with a host employer, a College and other local employers.

To use Pure Innovations Assessment Tool to assess each student's skills and evaluate their learning.

To create a person centred work development plan for each student. This may include developing accessible resources for working with each student based on their individual needs e.g use of photographs, worksheets.

To meet regularly with families and school/college staff to review the progress of each individual.

To support parents and carers through the academic year, including support around change in benefits due to young person achieving paid employment.

To devise and present workshops for groups of young people and project partners on progress of project.

Attend various conferences/meetings in order to promote Pure Innovations and the supported internship project.

To liaise with other supported internship sites to evaluate service delivery and share best practice.

Project Caseload



Attend all client's initial visits Complete work development plans and one page profiles with each young person Carry out quality checks to ensure individuals are matched to suitable placements according to an established process of personal profiling Ensure self and team members maximise client independence by providing suitable training in systematic instruction methods Identify and liaise with other agencies that may be able to provide additional support Work in partnership with Local Authorities, other agencies, parents and carers

Employer Work



Use a variety of sales and marketing skills to identify suitable placement and employment opportunities Establish relationships with key stakeholders and decision makers within the partner organisations and with employers Promote understanding of the Pure Innovations methods and procedural systems to ensure that employers and partner organisations understand what is required to employ a diverse workforce Ensure the team challenge traditional methods of recruitment and selection by using creative initiatives Plan and co-ordinate and/or deliver training to organisations to build awareness and overcome barriers to quality and diversity, inclusion and employment

Administration



Carry out quality checks to ensure that the project records and maintains accurate relevant written documentation i.e. weekly reports, risk assessments, individual and employer records etc, this will be done either manually or on computer Ensure effective remote working and adhering to the relevant guidelines based on lone working, outlook calendar and duty cover Make presentations using all mediums and to various audiences and actively develop these skills in other team members Ensure client confidentially is maintained at all times Adhere to GDPR regulations and company policy and procedures to ensure that sensitive information and data is stored and disposed of in an appropriate manner Ensure reports, paperwork and other correspondence are completed accurately and to deadlines Produce accurate information and statistical data as required by the General Manager of Employment, Team Managers, Contractors and external funding streams

Teamwork



Assist the Team Manager, to chair meetings and training events which develop the service or improve team/individual performance Project lead and/or facilitate departmental projects using recognised project management strategies and tools Act as a role model for other staff, promoting best practice and sharing ideas Actively encourage feedback from team members and service users to develop and improve the service Provide cover for the Team Manager and team members as required Support the team manager with the set-up of new supported internship sites or other transition projects.

Staff Management



Line management of employment officer and job coaches as required Deliver one to one supervision/management Responsibility of quality assurance through observations/spot checks and paperwork audits Liaise with team manager to work through performance management issues Set individual's objectives and targets and monitor their performance to achieve them including completing appraisals and reviews. Work with team manager to ensure effective recruitment, induction and training and coaching for job coaches.
