Role Title: Senior Engineer - Control & Instrumentation (C&I)

We are now recruiting for a Senior Engineer - C&I to be involved in delivering an industry-leading, cutting-edge design project for a new type of nuclear power station.
About the Role

As a Senior C&I Engineer, you will provide technical expertise across the lifecycle of hardwired protection and accident management systems for the SMR nuclear power plant 'reactor island'. This covers the delivery of the complete design of the systems, spanning requirements gathering, development of system architecture, sub-system design and equipment specification, and design/selection to realise the final verified design of the systems in support of the overall design of the power station.
Key aspects of the role include:Work with Plant Process Engineers and other C&I Engineers to gather and develop system requirements Translate these requirements into design specifications for hardwired protection and accident management systems Assess and substantiate that the design specification meets the requirements Ensure compliance with international standards, in particular IEC61508 & IEC61503 Liaise with other disciplines to understand functional performance capabilities of components and systems Support planning and implementation of policies and procedures related to the life cycle of the systems Ensure optimum solutions for the RR SMR Nuclear Power Plant by supporting procurement, operations, and maintenance aspects of the equipment Contribute to the production of safety cases and liaise with regulators and independent nuclear safety assessors

We'll Need You To:Apply systems engineering methodologies, including Model-Based Systems Engineering Deliver high-quality technical documentation and reviews Collaborate across disciplines to integrate safety and compliance requirements Act as an intelligent customer when working with supply chain partners

Key Skills Required:Experience in the systematic design lifecycle of C&I systems including specification, design, verification, commissioning and maintenance Knowledge of safety-critical standards and fault-tolerant design principles Familiarity with IEC 61508, IEC 61503 and relevant good practice Ability to present complex information clearly and work collaboratively across disciplines Degree in electrical, electronics, instrumentation, or control systems (or equivalent experience)

Location:

Hybrid working with one of the following locations as your primary site: Derby, Manchester or Warrington.
Salary and Package:

The salary band for this role is 51,600-67,725 dependent on the skills, values, and knowledge you bring. There may be some flexibility with the starting salary in exceptional cases, and, in due course, there is the potential for you to develop the role further.
