SPEN CSD Senior Engineer. CSD (Communication System Diagnosis) is a new team in SPEN Network Digitalisation responsible for the design, development and deployment of the Secondary Communications network to support and enable SPEN's investment programmes.
This role will involve introduction and testing of new communication solutions, responsible for the overall health of the secondary telecom estate and attached modern digital devices. Monitoring health of network, remote restoration and field defect management across contractors and SPEN staff.
This Senior Engineer Role would be suitable for a wide range of technical backgrounds including Telecom, IP Networks, Automation and Network Management experience.
What you'll be doingDesign, test and develop all new Secondary communications equipment to help support NCP modernisation and LV Monitors across all SPEN licence areas.
Configuration and Network acceptance of deployed devices currently being deployed including 4G routers and LV Monitors
Asset management of devices utilising management tools for remote restoration and defect management.
To drive continual network and device performance improvement through analysis of outputs and feedback from internal and external sources.
Ensuring Network Telecom and Modern Device asset management is compliant with the Network & Information System Regulations
To develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours amongst the team through the mentoring and training of less experienced team members, graduates and trainees.
What you'll bringKnowledge of operational telecoms networks and architectures including legacy and modern data transmission and networking technologies, wireless and mobile.
Knowledge of the NIS regulations and the wider regulatory framework.
Experience in asset management within a utility environment.
Knowledge and experience of operational reporting to balance the workbook, financially and across the programme load
General commercial awareness with the ability to balance customer service, efficient network design ensuring maximum return on investment.
Track record of effective stakeholder and customer service engagement and management.
Ability to communicate and present information effectively at all levels
Ability to manage competing priorities using sound engineering and financial judgement to determine optimal solutions
Qualified to HNC/Degree or equivalent in Electrical or Telecoms Engineering or suitable experience in an engineering role.
Experience ideally gained through technical, development, operations or network management roles.
