Marine Systems Technology are a defence marine engineering business now seeking, due to business growth, two Senior Engineers - projects and design.
The role of the Senior engineer is to research, conceptualise, plan, and design mechanical and electromechanical products and systems. Demonstrating solid technical acumen and interest in hands-on machine design, sheet metal design, mechanical calculation and analysis, with a functional understanding of mechanical design in a marine environment and electrical control system packaging. A self-starter who can proactively work in a team environment with other mechanical, controls, and software engineers to support the design, assembly, integration, check out, and testing of machines and systems that meet the specifications and expectations of our customers.
Duties
Contribute to winning customer proposals, which will include the technical description and the associated cost and schedule requirements.
Conceptualises and models a machine or system.
Participates in and lead internal and customer design reviews.
Produces detailed design drawings for system procurement, fabrication, and assembly.
Supports fabrication and installation activities
Writes engineering documentation that support the design
Commitment to team success
Experience
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
5 years mechanical design experience
Functional user of SolidWorks CAD software and Microsoft Office tools (with an emphasis on Excel)
Experienced in the use of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software
Proficient in the production of mechanical engineering calculations
Strong organisational and communications skills
Desirable:
Experience in project management budgeting and scheduling
Marine or Naval mechanical engineering experience
This is a hybrid role following probation. Hours: Monday to Thursday (0730 - 1630, Friday 0730 - 1330 - flexibility in start/finish times).
