Senior Environment Artist





As a Senior Environment Artist, you will be responsible for creating high-quality, immersive 3D environments that bring our game worlds to life. The position requires a balance of creative, technical, hands-on and leadership skills.

Working closely with the Art Lead, you will help establish the visual direction for our projects while mentoring junior team members and ensuring technical excellence across all environmental assets.

Core Responsibilities





Design and create visually stunning, high-quality 3D environments including architecture, terrain, props, and atmospheric elements that support gameplay and narrative Collaborate with the Art Lead and Concept Artist to define and maintain the visual style and quality bar for environmental art across projects Work closely with Design and Programming teams to ensure environments enhance player experience and support game mechanics Provide mentorship and guidance to junior and mid-level environment artists, reviewing their work and helping them develop their skills Develop and refine environment art pipelines and workflows to improve efficiency and quality Optimize environment assets and scenes for performance across target platforms while maintaining visual fidelity Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for environment art standards, workflows, and best practices Participate in art reviews and provide constructive feedback to maintain quality standards



Requirements





6+ years of professional experience creating environment art for games Multiple shipped titles Proven ability to create both stylised and realistic environments with strong attention to detail Excellent ability to interpret briefs and diverse references and creatively respond with aesthetically pleasing work that meets stylistic, gameplay, narrative and technical requirements Strong portfolio demonstrating
expertise in environment modelling, texturing, world-building, and scene composition
Expert knowledge of modern 3D content creation tools (e.g., Blender, Maya, 3ds Max, ZBrush, Substance Designer/Painter) Advanced understanding of real-time physically-based materials and rendering pipelines (PBR) Solid understanding of Unity with experience implementing and optimizing environmental assets Deep understanding of colour theory, composition, lighting, and visual storytelling through environments Strong understanding of modular asset creation and reusable content workflows Self-motivated with strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines Experience mentoring or providing guidance to other artists



Advantageous Experience





Experience with procedural generation tools (Houdini, SpeedTree, etc.) Knowledge of terrain creation and landscape sculpting tools Experience with lighting and VFX to enhance environmental mood and atmosphere Understanding of technical art principles and shader creation Traditional art skills including painting, drawing, and composition Experience working with outsourcing partners and providing art direction Knowledge of version control systems (Git, Perforce, etc.) * Console development experience
