This is a key leadership role within the East Midlands business, responsible for the financial health, performance and governance of the region. The Finance Manager will ensure timely, accurate and insightful reporting, while playing an active role in strategic planning and decision-making.

This role presents a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to progress towards Finance Director level, as well as to shape and grow a high-quality finance function that supports a thriving regional business.

Primary Responsibilities:



Take full ownership of financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting for the East Midlands region, ensuring compliance with Group requirements and tight deadlines.

Provide critical financial input at all local Board and bi-monthly Valuation Review meetings.

Act as a trusted advisor to the regional senior management team, contributing to commercial strategy and performance improvement
Develop and implement regional financial policies in line with Group procedures to ensure robust, consistent and accurate accounting.

Review and challenge site appraisals and cost-to-complete forecasts, helping ensure accurate reporting of margins and profitability.

Ensure compliance and quality assurance on all VAT, SDLT, and related tax payments linked to land transactions.

Maintain a strong understanding of and data integrity within key systems, especially COINS.

Identify opportunities for systems improvement and financial process optimisation across the business unit.

To build, lead and mentor a small team as the regional business grows.

Desired Qualifications and Experience:



Fully Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) ideally with some previous experience in a Management Accountant role managing a small finance team.

Be a confident team player with a hands-on attitude who is able to communicate with colleagues at all levels of the business and possess the ability to translate and explain key issues (sometimes complex) to non-financial colleagues.

Strong commercial awareness and the ability to review, interpret and then challenge information and explanations behind cost movements and budget variances.

Ability to manage current and upcoming future workloads so as to work effectively and accurately on multiple tasks in a fast-paced PLC environment - time management and planning skills very important.

Relevant experience within the construction or house building industry would be a significant advantage, although not essential.

Experience of using MS Office, and in particular Excel spreadsheet and financial modelling - experience with COINS or equivalent ERP systems is highly desirable.
