About the role



Balfour Beatty's Enabling Functions team have an exciting opportunity to join the Senior Finance team in Power T&D England & Wales.



As a Senior Financial Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities, reporting, managing budgets, and other financial controls.

What you'll be doing



Budget Management: Develop and manage budgets for DCU projects, ensuring accurate cost estimations, and tracking expenditures against approved budgets. Cost Control: Implement cost control measures to optimize project expenses without compromising quality, constantly seeking opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements. Working Capital Analysis: Monitor cash flow and liquidity, ensuring timely payments to vendors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to maintain smooth project operations. Financial Reporting: Prepare and present financial reports to senior management, providing insights into project performance, cost trends, KPI's and overall financial health. Manage period end reporting cycles. Ensure compliance with Gated Business Lifecycle. Risk Management: Identify financial risks and implement strategies to mitigate them, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and industry standards. Market Analysis: Stay informed about market trends, economic indicators, and industry benchmarks, utilizing this information to make informed financial decisions and adapt financial strategies accordingly Ledger Management including Reconciliations, journals and validation of Revenue and profit reported. Capital Planning: Assist in capital planning and investment decisions, evaluating the financial feasibility of tenders, net debt and ad hoc initiatives. Team Leadership: Lead, develop and mentor, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented work environment.


Who we're looking for



Strong analytical skills, with demonstrated ability to create quality, well organised financial analysis from multiple data sources. Attention to detail and accuracy required. Previous experience of contract accounting essential. Strong communication, numerical and presentation skills including the ability to deliver reports orally and written in an objective and persuasive manner. Proactive, problem-solving individual who takes full ownership and accountability of their work. Confidence to work closely with the Commercial team and building good working relationships across the portfolio of project. Experience of contract reviews, commercial proposals, business cases. Act as a strong advocate for best practice, able to support and defend practical deployment and solutions, whilst remaining open to the ideas of others
