Senior Finance Manager - Opex & Fixed Assets

Location: Hook (hybrid)

Serco is undertaking a significant Finance Transformation, reshaping how core finance processes are executed and governed across the UK business. We now have a fantastic opportunity to join us as a Senior Finance Manager - Opex & Fixed Assets to lead the execution of operating cost and fixed asset processes within the UK Finance Hub. This is a senior leadership role with end-to-end accountability for Opex and Fixed Asset processing across the UK Division and its Joint Ventures. You will lead large on-shore and off-shore teams, sit at the centre of month-end close, audit and balance sheet integrity, and work closely with Global Process Owners to translate global design into effective local delivery. The role offers genuine scope to reset standards, strengthen control and build a scalable, fit-for-purpose operating model for a 2.4bn business.

What you'll be doing

Own the execution of operating cost and fixed asset processes during and following finance transformation. Lead month-end close activity within scope, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and strong governance. Retain accountability for key balance sheet accounts and associated financial controls. Drive root-cause analysis and remediation of issues impacting quality, control or timeliness. Lead external audit activity for operating costs and fixed assets. Lead, develop and set clear standards for on-shore and off-shore teams. Build exceptional relationships with key stakeholders such as Operational Contract Directors, Business Unit Finance Directors and Group Finance. Identify opportunities for automation, digital enablement and process improvement Facilitate a broad range of cross functional collaboration to resolve upstream challenges that impact downstream financial reporting.

What you'll need to do the role

Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent). Significant experience in a senior leadership position driving the execution of Record-to-Report processes in a large, complex organisation. Proven leadership within a Shared Services or centralised finance environment. Strong financial control, balance sheet and audit experience. Demonstrated delivery of process-led change within operational or transactional finance. Credibility operating with senior finance and operational stakeholders. Experience supporting finance transformation programmes. Exposure to IFRS 16 and lease accounting systems. Experience working with Business Process Outsourcers.
