Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Governance
Own and oversee business-as-usual finance operations, ensuring stability, accuracy, and compliance
Lead month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring timelines and quality standards are met
Act as a key escalation point for complex accounting issues and judgment areas
Accounting & Reporting Excellence
Ensure full compliance with accounting standards, internal policies, and regulatory requirements
Review and sign off on key financial statements, reconciliations, and balance sheet integrity
Maintain strong internal controls and support internal and external audits
People Leadership
Lead, coach, and develop the finance team, fostering accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement
Build strong working relationships with operational teams and senior stakeholders
Drive a culture of high performance, clarity of roles, and professional development
Business Partnership
Partner with operational and commercial teams to provide financial insight and challenge
Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis with a strong focus on BAU performance
Act as a trusted finance advisor to the site and senior management

Candidate Profile
Essential
Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
Strong technical accounting background with hands-on experience
Proven experience in a senior finance or finance manager role within a BAU environment
Demonstrated people leadership and team management capability
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Willingness and flexibility to travel to Sunderland
Desirable
Experience in multi-entity or group environments
Background in structured month-end close and governance frameworks
