Role Purpose
Crwban Care and Support Ltd is seeking an experienced and highly organised
Senior Finance Officer
to take sole responsibility for the day-to-day financial operations of the organisation.
This is a
key, trusted role
within a growing care provider, supporting approximately
80 staff and 18 residents across 10 supported living houses
. Although the role does not involve line management, it carries
significant responsibility and autonomy
, requiring a high level of accuracy, discretion, and sector-specific understanding.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll & Staffing Finance
End-to-end management of payroll for approximately 80 staff, including:
Salaries, enhancements, overtime, sleep-ins, and mileage
Starters, leavers, and changes to terms
Processing and paying staff expenses and mileage claims
Liaising with local authority finance teams regarding:
Additional hours
Variations to funded support
Financial queries and reconciliations
Financial Management & Accounting
Full management of the organisation's
Xero accounting system
, including:
Bank reconciliations
Supplier payments
Ledger maintenance
Managing multiple house bank accounts and cost centres
Producing accurate financial information to support directors
Supporting month-end processes and financial oversight
Housing & Operational Finance
Responsibility for all house-related financial activity across 10 properties, including:
Utilities
Rent
Council tax
Insurance
Other recurring and ad-hoc costs
Ensuring payments are made accurately and on time
Monitoring expenditure and highlighting variances or concerns
Corporate Appointeeship
Acting as
Corporate Appointee
for a small number of individuals supported by the organisation
Managing benefits income and expenditure in line with:
DWP requirements
Safeguarding expectations
Audit and compliance standards
Maintaining clear, accurate and auditable financial records
Compliance & Controls
Ensuring financial processes comply with:
HMRC requirements
Funding authority expectations
Internal controls and best practice
Supporting audits, inspections, and financial reviews as required
Maintaining confidentiality and data protection at all times
Person Specification
Essential
Proven experience in a
finance or payroll role
with sole or high-level responsibility
Experience managing
payroll
in a complex staffing environment
Strong working knowledge of
Xero
Experience of reconciliation and multi-account finance management
High level of accuracy, organisation, and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
Confidence liaising with external finance teams and stakeholders
Desirable
Experience within the
care, health, or supported living sector
Experience of
corporate appointeeship
or benefits management
Understanding of local authority funding and additional hours processes
AAT qualification or equivalent experience
