About the role





We are now recruiting a

Senior Financial Accountant

to join our Finance team on a 12 month FTC. This is a home-based role, but the successful candidate will be expected to attend regular team meetings at our Liverpool office (and occasionally Didsbury) as and when required.



The purpose of this role is to support the provision of financial accounting services including monthly management reporting, performance reports, internal control compliance and statutory reports in line with relevant accounting and sector standards. Support the management of the tax activities for the Group.


Responsibilities




Accounting




Support the preparation of the annual financial accounts for group and subsidiary legal entities including consolidation and preparation of statutory disclosures required under applicable accounting standards.


Prepare for submission of various tax returns for group and relevant legal entities.
Liaise with external and internal auditors to provide information and resolution to queries and put in place improvements based on recommendations.

Chart of accounts maintenance




Responsible for the maintenance and accuracy of the chart of accounts, ensuring that the necessary controls are in place to ensure correct classification of income, costs, asset and liabilities of the Group and its members, to facilitate good quality and accurate statutory and regulatory reporting outputs.

Reporting




Support the coordination and production of the month end accounts, prepare control account reconciliations and analysis, ensure all reporting is delivered within agreed group time scales.

Develop and manage a link between the analysis of data and other teams. Provide data assurance to ensure that information decisions are made at the right level.

Collaboration




Work in collaboration with finance colleagues to develop and maintain effective processes and reporting through systems.

Encourage a culture of cross team collaboration; support workplace mentoring for finance team members wanting to progress. Required as and when necessary to support areas of the finance team at peak times or on major projects.

Process improvement




Drive continual process improvement to deliver financial control and assurance across the group.

Develop and manage a link between the analysis of data and other teams. Provide data assurance to ensure that information decisions are made at the right level.

Skills, experience, and Qualifications




Essential:




Experience of working in a financial accounting role. Experience of year end process and working with external auditors. Experience of people management and development. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to plan and prioritise workload. Able to work at all levels within the company. Experience of developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Good knowledge of various accounting software packages. Full/Part or working towards qualification with a recognised accounting body (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or relevant professional experience. A Full UK Driving Licence and access to your own car.

Desirable:




Experience of working in the housing sector, specifically understanding component accounting and capitalisation. Ability to work with fixed asset software.
