AECOM is currently seeking an Engineer or Senior Fire Protection Engineer to specialise in Fire Fighting Systems design to be based in our one of our regional offices such as St. Albans, London or Manchester. This is a consultancy based position so experience within this kind of design and client focused environment is preferred.

The position is also suited to someone looking for a slight career change, moving from Public Health Engineering or Mechanical Engineering for example where you already have some knowledge of fire suppression systems (within residential applications for example). The position is also well suited to someone looking to move from the sprinkler contractor sector to design consultancy.

Our experienced team will be able to provide guidance and mentoring to allow you to fully expand your knowledge and capabilities into a fully competent fire protection designer and ultimately lead to you taking on design, calculations and proposing fire safety solutions to clients on small and large scale projects whilst acting as a key point of contact and expertise. You will also be involved in surveys and report production which will give you the opportunity to refine your skills including day to day project management for our varied projects.

This vacancy will be well suited to an established consultant looking to take the next step or someone with a desire to improve their knowledge and design experience and wants to join a well respected and established fire safety consultancy.

Job responsibilities will include:

  • Performing specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
  • Gathering and correlating basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
  • Working on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
  • Proposing approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
  • Identifying discrepancies in results.
  • Providing guidance to entry level engineers.
  • Performing work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
  • Independently performing all the tasks necessary to complete primary design
elements for engineering works.

Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position.

Qualifications

A degree preferred is preferred however we would consider a candidate with an HND and strong work experience
