Senior Fullstack Engineer (back End Focused)

London, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

Ebury is a global fintech firm dedicated to empowering businesses to expand internationally through tailored and forward-thinking financial solutions. Since our founding in 2009, we've grown to a diverse team of over 1,700 professionals across 40+ offices and 29+ markets worldwide. Joining Ebury means becoming part of a collaborative and innovative environment where your contributions are valued. You'll play a key role in shaping the future of cross-border finance, while advancing your own career in a dynamic, high-growth industry.

Senior Fullstack Engineer (Backend Focused)

London Office - Hybrid: 4 days in the office, 1 day working from home

We are seeking a senior full-stack engineer to play a crucial part in our Channels Core team. In this role, you will be working on scaling our main web application and developing tooling and processes to empower Ebury product teams to ship amazing features efficiently and independently while maintaining a unified, usable experience for our customers.

We're looking for the right attitude, work ethic, and entrepreneurial spirit to ask the hard questions. To be informed by data, but be led by a desire to solve our customers' problems. You should learn by default and be ever curious. You should be programming language, framework, and tool agnostic but have strong opinions (weakly held) on the right tool to solve our biggest problems.

Responsibilities:

Contribute to the web app's entire lifecycle--design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance, leading delivery of complex features. Write high-quality backend (Python/Django & Node.js), while contributing to React/VueJS on the frontend. Own the full lifecycle of the products you build, including development, maintenance, monitoring, and alerting. Mentor junior engineers and champion technical excellence and best practices. Collaborate cross-functionally to understand needs and deliver impactful solutions. Contribute to our technical roadmap, identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement. Quality is important to us; we expect your code to be testable with good test coverage. Keep up-to-date with emerging technologies, tools, and practices. The position may require being on-call at times.

About you:

5+ years of full-stack software development experience, with a proven track record of building high-performance, client-facing web applications. Deep proficiency in backend technologies like Python3, Django, PostgreSQL, Redis, SQL, Big Query, and REST APIs, or similar modern programming languages and frameworks. Strong understanding of system architecture, API design, and building scalable services, including incorporating monitoring, alerting, and integrating complex external systems. Experience working in a platform team, providing essential tooling and processes that empower other development teams. Expertise in code versioning (Git) and a steadfast commitment to code quality, ensuring your work is testable and well-covered with unit and integration tests. Comfortable with containerization and cloud infrastructure, along with solid knowledge of Linux systems, networking, and databases. Excellent communication and collaboration skills in English for seamless international teamwork. An analytical mindset coupled with strong time management abilities. A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Bonus Points:

Familiarity with Expo pipelines for deploying services and infrastructure. Experience in applying AI/ML to solve customer problems. Experience working with Micro Frontends.
