An established engineering services organisation is seeking a Senior Gas Engineer with a strong electrical bias to join its nationwide field team. This is a hands-on role working across a diverse range of industrial process equipment, offering long-term career progression and the opportunity to move into a senior or management position within a growing technical business.
The role suits an experienced engineer who is confident working independently on complex systems, engaging directly with clients, and maintaining high standards of safety, compliance, and workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose faults, service, repair, refurbish, modify, and install industrial process equipment
Carry out work on gas burners, industrial ovens, paint spray booths, and air handling units
Work on electrical systems including control panels, cabling, and control circuit modifications
Install and wire new gas burner systems in line with current regulations
Complete both planned maintenance and reactive service visits
Undertake inspections, risk assessments, and produce recommendations for remedial works
Ensure all statutory servicing and compliance works are completed within required timescales
Liaise directly with customers on-site and remotely, maintaining a professional and customer-focused approach
Work in accordance with health and safety legislation, industry standards, and internal procedures
Carry out work at height when required, using PASMA and IPAF equipment
Operate effectively under pressure while maintaining accuracy and quality
Required Skills and Experience
Proven experience working as a senior or lead engineer within an industrial or manufacturing environment
Strong electrical background with experience working on control systems and panels
Hands-on experience with gas-fired equipment and industrial process machinery
Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions on-site
Confident communicator with a professional approach to client interaction
Competent user of Microsoft Office for reporting and documentation
Full UK driving licence
Qualifications
Level 3 Electrical Installation or equivalent
Level 3 NVQ in Electrical Engineering
AM2
18th Edition Wiring Regulations
Commercial Gas Safe qualifications
PASMA and IPAF certifications, or willingness to obtain
Basic administrative skills are desirable
