There has never been a better time to join our team at Torbay Council Engineering Department. We have a great opportunity for a successful candidate to join our Civil and Structural Engineering Team.



We are looking to recruit someone who has a good knowledge in structural engineering practices and design standards in the broad range of building and structure found within the regional enviroment, including urban, commercial, industrial, domestic, leisure, marine and highway structure. Experienced in the use of Autocad and/or Revit structural detailing of structural reinforced concrete and structural steelwork construction, as well as a good understanding of Part A of the Building Regulations, British Standards and Eurocodes relevant to civil/structural engineering. IT skills including using Microsoft packages, specialist design software, including TEDDS/Tekla structural design packages.



Your role will see you assist the engineers in managing the projects and interact with contractors on site, have the ability to deal tactfully with people of all ages and background.

Skills

Essential:Ability and adaptability in structural engineering design to current standards and code of practices for concrete, steel, timber and masonry. Familiar with the use of Microsoft packages and structural Engineering software TEDDS/TEKLA. Experience in the use of AutoCAD and Revit.

As this post meets the requirements of the Immigration Act 2016 (part 7), the ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.

Knowledge

Essential:Knowledge and understanding of structural engineering especially in relation to building structures. Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislations and statutory obligations in relation building regulations and design codes of practice. A basic Knowledge of financial management.

Experience & Qualifications

Essential:Experience in Formally responding to contractor RFI's on live construction projects. Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent. Working toward corporate or chartered membership of the IStructE or ICE.
