Summary of Role
Raytheon UK is looking for a dynamic and ambitious Senior Hardware Engineer to work within Raytheon's Power business. Reporting to the Engineering Lead, this is a creative and stimulating role offering excellent development opportunities and the chance to work alongside our highly skilled technical team. The ability to work on projects from initial concept stage, developing the concepts through to final production units. The successful candidate will be responsible for helping to develop and maintain our world class power product portfolio and technical roadmap. This is a complex and challenging role that will be highly rewarding, with extensive communication and interfacing requirements with key stakeholders, demanding excellent interpersonal skills and high levels of energy and stamina.
The work location will primarily be based at our Glenrothes or Livingston facilities with frequent visits to other customer sites in the UK and occasional travel to the US.
Main Duties
Working effectively within a multi-disciplined design team, adhering to company policies & procedures
Analogue & Power Electronic product design
Solving complex technical problems on new and existing products from our portfolio
Electronic Schematic capture layout & simulation
Design, commissioning, circuit debug and fault diagnosis through the project lifecycle
Ability to design to cost targets
Awareness and application of DFM&T (Design for Manufacture & Test)
Document Verification and Qualification of products to industry and customer standards
Configuration of product designs and their controlled change.
Prepare technical document & reports
Support internal & customer discussions, leading in your area of expertise.
Candidate Requirements
Essential:
Degree in Electronical Engineering or a related discipline
Prior exposure and experience within Power Electronics/Design to cost & schedule
Good and demonstrable problem-solving skills with practical laboratory test, circuit & test measurement experience
Innovative thinker with self-motivation
Good communicator able to engage technically within the company and to customers
Eligible or current holder of SC security clearance
Desirable
Experience with interfacing to RF circuitry and high-speed D/A/A/D conversion
Experience with both RF and Power development
Experience with programmable devices
Experience in design of Switch Mode Power supplies, designs of Invertor and PFC design of full bridge, flyback, forward topologies or exposure to others
Experience using the Mentor Graphics tool suite; xDX Designer, Constraints Editor, HyperLynx tools such as Signal Integrity & Power Analyser, System Vision simulation or equivalents would be advantageous.
Knowledge of Firmware development, design and test using suitable toolsets (i.e. Xilinx Vivado, ModelSim). Proven analytical skills in circuit simulation (Matlab, LT Spice)
Awareness and application of DFM&T (Design for Manufacture & Test)
Experience of recognised standards MIL Std, IPS etc
Experience in component selection & derating analysis
Practical workshop skills including soldering
