NVQ Level 3 in Care

Experience / Qualification in the Safe Handling of Medicines

Main responsibilities

Care

Ensure the highest possible levels of care are maintained by supporting and assisting Service Users when required with all aspects of daily living.

Support training and supervision of junior and new Staff Members in all aspects of their work in the Care Home, under the supervision of senior Staff Members

Guide, support and direct the staff team whilst on duty to ensure the shift is managed well, and all aspects of care is delivered and recorded.

Assist Clients in all aspects of their care needs, e.g. physical, emotional and spiritual. Provide supervision and attention when needed, ensuring Service Users retain their comfort and dignity

Pay attention to assisting Service Users who have limited mobility, or physical difficulties making the best use of aids provided

Closely monitor Service Users who may be confused and / or who have behavioural challenges

Assist in the promotion of continence

Assist in the delivery of care for Service Users who are dying or who have a progressive illness, including assisting with last wishes.

To contribute and involve in the writing of care plans and reviewing the care plans and risk assessment in line with the Company's policy

Complete, observe and review care planning needs for Service Users and complete written daily records as instructed and in line with the Company's policies and procedures

Ensure that vital checks are carried out and recorded when required

Assist in framework of social activities by interacting with Service Users and helping them continue with hobbies and activities in the Care Home

Answer Nurse Call system, giving assistance as required. Answer the door and telephone appropriately. Respond accordingly, and pass on messages promptly

Report on well-being of Service Users and liaise with GP's and other external professionals

Carry out regular checks on Service Users at intervals determined by senior Staff Members

Make Visitors feel welcome. Provide refreshments and assistance as and when required

Make and change beds, ensuring that rooms are clean and tidy, and commodes are empty, in line with the Care Homes disposal of waste policy. Ensure the Care Home resources are used appropriately

Clean and maintain equipment used by Service Users and Relatives e.g. wheelchairs, hearing aids, spectacles etc. Ensure the Care Home is kept clean and tidy, in line with the Company's attention to detail philosophy

If applicable, care for Service Users clothing and rooms as named and ensure that all clothing is recorded and clearly marked

Contribute and involve in care planning, risk assessment and reviewing

Ensure full privacy and dignity is maintained for the dying and the bereaved in line with the Company's policies and procedures

Assist Service Users who need help during mealtimes, be aware of swallowing difficulties, dietary requirements etc. Assist with servicing of food/drinks as requested/required. Wash up as requested/required.

Escort Service Users travelling to and from the Care Home e.g. on social outings, hospital visits etc

Practice maximum integrity in all dealings with Service Users personal and financial affairs, and avoid abuse of the privileged relationship that exists with Service Users

As apropriate, ordering and receiving medications when required in line with the Company's medication policy

As appropriate dispense medication and ensure correct recording of all relevant information relating to medication in line with the Company's medication policy

Supporting the nurses and the Home Manager with new admissions and transfer to and from hospitals

Ensure all holistic assessments are carried out when Service Users are admitted to the Care Home

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 13.50 per hour

Expected hours: 36 - 48 per week
