Key Responsibilities



1. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring they receive/deliver a suitable handover at the start of each shift to which they are satisfied meets the needs of residents. All handovers must be updated on the computer system to keep records up to date.

2. To ensure CD drug checks are completed twice daily with another Senior Healthcare Worker Morning and Night, and document on the relevant paperwork. Any discrepancies must be actioned and reported to the manager.

3. The candidate will be responsible for allocating relevant duties for the day to each staff member, including themselves to provide continuity each shift.

4. It is the responsibility of the candidate to ensure residents receive all their daytime medication as prescribed by the GP. Any issues with medication administration must be dealt with by the candidate and reported to manager via an Accident and Incident form.

5. The candidate must support Healthcare Workers with personal care tasks throughout the day once main duties are completed. This includes assisting residents to get up from bed, providing meals, maintaining continence needs for residents and supporting residents with positional changes. Main duties include medication administration and dealing with any apparent issues that may prevent the service from working effectively.

6. The candidate is responsible for maintaining the welfare of residents during the day, ensuring residents can call for help at anytime and personal care needs are met throughout the day. These interventions are to be recorded as per home procedures.

7. As part of the ongoing duties, the candidate must monitor the work of other staff and ensure a smooth running of the home.

8. This will also include reviewing staff performance for day staff

using supervision procedures and staff appraisals. All supervisions due will be allocated and expected to be completed by the end of the month.

9. The candidate will be performing care plan reviews each day in the absence of them being completed on the date due. The information will be recorded on a Resident of the Day monitoring form and submitted to the management team.

10. Any incidents that occur within the home must be reported

following the appropriate procedures by completing the Accident and Incident fonn and reporting to appropriate management at the earliest opportunity.

11. All care delivered for the entirety of the shift must be documented on the daily record by the care staff and the candidate. This also includes ensuring relevant records and charts are maintained. It is the candidate's responsibility to ensure this is complete and are accountable for any omissions.

12. Before finishing duty, the candidate must handover events

taken place during the day to the next shift and ensure this information is up to date and relevant.

13. Before finishing duty, the candidate must complete a CD

check on all controlled drugs and perform a final check of Medication records.

14. Read and understand Regulation 13 policies which include Safeguarding and Whistle blowing and reporting bad practice.

15. The candidate may be responsible for additional duties as set out by the management team.
