Senior Health & Fitness Writer, Women's Health

London, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

We're the UK's leading premium publisher, and the people behind iconic media brands such as Cosmopolitan, Esquire, ELLE, Harper's Bazaar and Country Living. We've created a working environment that encourages everyone to pull together. We never stop looking for brave new ideas. We'll always try to develop and improve, we trust each other to do our best, and we have fun as we build on our heritage to make history.

The Role...

Are you passionate about fitness, health, and creating content that truly makes an impact? As Women's Health's Senior Fitness and Health Writer, you'll be at the heart of shaping the brand's voice across every platform. From crafting and commissioning smart, SEO-led features to producing engaging cross-platform content, this is your chance to inspire, inform, and motivate millions of readers.

Working closely with the Fitness Director, you'll not only deliver top-quality content but also play a key role in driving the brand's success. Whether it's growing traffic, boosting engagement, driving e-commerce, or creating must-watch video content, you'll help us hit - and exceed - ambitious audience goals.

This is a hands-on, creative role with real impact: your work won't just reach audiences, it will move them.

Main Duties...

Create and deliver standout content:

Write sparkling, engaging copy across digital, social, and print platforms - from daily news hits and evergreen SEO-led service pieces to monthly features and commercial campaigns. You'll also commission and mentor writers, ensuring all content meets brand standards and audience goals.

Drive digital growth:

Execute and refine SEO strategies to power womenshealthmag.co.uk's growth, updating evergreen content, sourcing shareable social-first stories, and reporting on analytics via tools like Google Analytics.

Innovate across platforms:

Collaborate with the Social Media Manager to feed fresh, relevant content into WH's social channels, adapt to evolving social strategies, and partner with the video team to create and present social-first video franchises.

Champion the brand externally:

Act as a Women's Health ambassador, attending launches, workouts, and events, building the strongest network of industry experts (PTs, nutritionists, psychologists and more), and contributing to our growing membership offering.

Support leadership and strategy:

Deputise for the Fitness Director when required, contribute to the development of WH's digital fitness strategy, and support Hearst UK values in all areas of your work.

What We Are Looking For...

Proven editorial experience:

Two to three years of professional writing across both digital and print, with a track record of delivering high-quality, traffic-driving content is essential.

Health & fitness obsession:

You're plugged into the wellness world - from TikTok trends to the latest academic research - and know instinctively what makes a standout health or fitness story.

Digital expertise:

Strong knowledge of SEO, CMS, Google Search Console, Google Docs, and social platforms, plus confidence in using analytics tools to track performance and implement improvements.

Brand and industry awareness:

Ideally, you'll have experience working with a high-profile lifestyle brand in a fast-paced environment, and existing relationships with fitness talent, PRs, and brands.

Skills & mindset:

Exceptional communication, organisation, and adaptability, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities. Above all, you bring an authentic understanding of the Women's Health brand and today's digital landscape.
