HS2, Britain's new high-speed railway is at peak construction. Balfour Beatty VINCI is HS2's construction partner in the Midlands, responsible for delivering 90km of the route, from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and on to Handsacre in Staffordshire.

Current Opportunity:

Senior Health & Safety Advisor

Location:

The North Region comprises Sublots 7 and 8 from Curdworth to Handsacre and runs for approximately 30km. It stretches through a mainly rural landscape between Lichfield, Tamworth and down towards Coleshill.


Role Responsibilities:



Support and deputise for the Sublot H&S Manager as required, working independently and efficiently on time-critical activities. Promote and support BBV and HS2 behavioural and cultural change programmes in line with the Golden Behaviours and Golden Rules. Provide competent health and safety advice and support to site colleagues, ensuring compliance with the BBV H&S management system and relevant UK legislation, including CDM. Carry out documented site inspections and joint inspections with suppliers, BBV, and subcontractor teams to monitor and improve safety standards. Support the delivery and development of safety briefings and site-specific health and safety communications.

Essential Experience:



Relevant H&S Diploma, NVQ or Degree (or equivalent level 6 qualification). May consider candidates with a NEBOSH certificate currently working towards one of these qualifications with relevant on site experience and to have or be working toward Chartered Membership of IOSH. Strong understanding and experience of UK Health and Safety Regulatory Framework. Ability to influence and promote a positive H&S culture by engaging and conversing at all levels. Competence in incident investigation. Ability to prepare formal written reports on H&S topics. Broad experience of complex construction and civils projects.
