This enhanced apprenticeship role is ideal for individuals with some care experience who are passionate about delivering high-quality, responsive care in dynamic clinical settings.

Important Eligibility Criteria

Please note:

This is an apprenticeship , so applicants must have resided in the UK for 3 years or more .

Due to funding rules, we can only accept candidates who have not previously worked as a Senior Healthcare Support Worker .

Applicants must not hold a Level 3 or higher qualification in healthcare .



As a Senior Healthcare Assistant Apprentice in our Acute Medicine and Emergency Department , you'll play a vital role in supporting patients during critical moments in their care journey. You'll be trained to deliver a wide range of clinical and personal care duties under the supervision of registered healthcare professionals, including:



Supporting patients with hygiene, toileting, and mobility

Assisting with catheter and stoma care

Monitoring patient output and removing catheters

Taking and recording vital signs and blood sugars

Observing patients for changes in condition

Assisting with wound care, dressings, and venflon removal

Supporting safe patient movement and positioning

Maintaining skin integrity and assessing pressure areas



These departments are fast-paced and unpredictable, and you'll be exposed to a wide variety of clinical scenarios. It's a challenging but incredibly rewarding environment, where your compassion, resilience, and teamwork will truly shine.

As part of our 24/7 care team, you'll work a four-shift system : early, late, twilight, and nights--ensuring our patients receive the best care around the clock.

Assist the provision of good quality personalised care in accordance with agreed local and national standards. Present a positive image of self, team and the organisation Update patient records in a timely and accurate manner Assist patients to meet nutritional needs in line with their individual care plan. Assist to maintain patient safety, conforming to health, safety and security legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines. Assist in maintaining standards of care to improve the patient experience and outcome of care. Promote equality in care and practice by recognising, respecting and meeting the needs and choices of individuals Contribute to maintaining safe, clean, and productive care environment, compliant with standards for hygiene and cleanliness. Communicate all relevant information to the Registered Nurses in a professional and timely way. Maintain and develop own competence Assist with resolving issues and complaints at local level and then report the outcome to line manager.
